Ledyard is a town which got its name from Colonel William Ledyard, a soldier who fought the British during the Revolution and was killed with his own saber. Ledyard is located in the county of London. One of the main attractions in Ledyard is the Foxwoods casino which is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Native American Tribe. Other places to visit in Ledyard include the Main Sawmill which was built in 1869, the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation Archeological District which became a National Historic Landmark in 1993, the Perkins-Bill House, the Applewood Farm, the Perkins-Bill House, and the Captain Mark Stoddard Farmstead, all of which have been listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Do not forget to visit any of the Ledyard bed and breakfast inns which gives emphasis to its cultural and historical heritage and the traditional New England setting which makes this town unique and a warm respite from the busy city life.
