Founded in the early 1800's, settled by the Duncan and Moore families, Duncan has evolved from a town that was the local flour mill, to the center of northern Pocahontas County for logging of the pine forests left after the initial harvesting of hardwoods. The town is surrounded by the Monongahela National Forest. Check out the water slew running a mile from a natural spring, that was used to feed the water wheel that would grind the flour.
