A Perfect Day in Spring Lake, New Jersey

Here Your Perfect Day Begins in the Evening

Arrive in the evening as the moon rises over the ocean. Go for a romantic stroll on the 2-mile-long Spring Lake boardwalk and relish the peace and quiet – only the sound of waves crashing. Tell the kids they wouldn’t like it – no amusements or shops on THIS boardwalk. Walk back to the bed and breakfast inn and sip cordials and nibble chocolate-covered pretzels sitting in rocking chairs on the porch. Heaven! Wait, there’s more. Enjoy champagne while soaking in the whirlpool-for-two by the fireplace in your room.

Then the Sun Rises…

Would you believe, the aroma of coffee finally wakes you at 9:00? And, breakfast is decadent – BBQ steak, eggs, home fries, fruit, mimosas. Don’t tell the kids you’ll have chocolate crème brulee for dessert.

After breakfast, ride the inn’s bicycle-for-two to Spring Lake‘s shopping village for some art, goodies and antiques. On the way, look at the gorgeous Victorian mansions that line the streets and dream of living here some day. Visit some of our favorite spots including Thistledown Gallery, Evergreen Gallery, Tom Bailey’s Market, the Chocolate Shoppe and antique shops scattered about. Then, an afternoon on the beach. You will love this beach. Clean, un-crowded, quiet, even a saltwater pool for laps. Back to the inn for teatime. You might read a book on the porch or take a nap.

The Second Evening

We suggest a romantic dinner overlooking the beach and ocean at Matisse in Belmar, especially when it is light enough to see the water. Other wonderful restaurants include Whispers, Black Trumpet and Avon Pavilion. Follow dinner up with a site-seeing cruise, outdoor concert, local theatre performance or dancing. Springsteen occasionally jams nearby! Then, another soak in the whirlpool and fall asleep to the pounding surf outside your window.
