A thousand points for you if you guessed that this is the town that has given its name to one of music's most popular festivals and to this day, that segment in American music history is still considered one of the major focal points. But what you probably would not have guessed is that back in the nineteenth century, Woodstock was already globally known as a center for American artists and other craftspeople. At the turn of the century, the Byrdcliffe arts and crafts colony was established here in Woodstock and in 1902, the Arts Students League of New York City opened up a summer school here. So if you have artistic inclinations, Woodstock is the best place to be with all its recital halls and the culmination of all kinds of music from jazz to pop music and it is set in the middle of a beautiful forested mountain and some of the most enchanting views. And Woodstock is famous not only because of its artistic inclinations but also for its restaurants and cafés, comfortable accommodations including the famous Woodstock bed and breakfasts.
