Windham Hill Inn
311 Lawrence DriveWest Townshend, VT 05359-9701
Circa 1825. Originally a working dairy farm with a three-story house, this peaceful Green Mountain home boasts upscale country decor with Oriental carpets, period antiques and fine locally made furnishings. The large music room was built with the help of Will Ackerman, founder of Windham Hill Records. It features an 1911 restored Steinway piano, entertainment center and extensive CD collection. Wood-burning brick fireplaces add a warm ambiance to the two parlors. The main house and White Barn guest bedrooms and lofts all offer great views. Many feature fireplaces or Vermont Castings stoves, window seats, Jacuzzis or soaking tubs and private porches. Scrumptiously satisfying cuisine is served in the Frog Pond Dining Room. Play tennis on a native-clay court, and then enjoy a swim in the brick-terraced heated pool. Hike the four-mile network of trails through 160 acres of pine and maple forest. In the winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, with ice skating on the pond.
