This stately Second Empire mansion, designed originally as an opulent private residence for a wealthy cotton merchant, features the architectural details that one would expect to find in a home of this grandeur -- hand-carved marble fireplaces, intricately detailed woodwork, Tiffany stained-glass windows and gleaming inlaid wood floors. Guest rooms have been historically restored and boast an elegant combination of antique furnishings and the modern comforts such as oversized whirlpools, most with a separate spacious shower, and working gas fireplaces. A breathtaking view of historic Charleston is accessible via the spiral staircase that leads to the towering cupola.
