Dry Ridge Inn

This house was built as the parsonage for the Salem Campground, an old religious revival camping area. Because of the high altitude and pleasant weather, it was used as a camp hospital for Confederate soldiers suffering from pneumonia during the Civil War. The area was called Dry Ridge by the Cherokee Indians before the campground was established.

Inn on Main Street

Atop a ridge in Blue Ridge Mountains, this 1900 Country Victorian inn has been a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life for the past 100 years. Built as a doctor's home and office, the downstairs was used to care for the sick and the upstairs to house paying guests who came to the area for the healthy mountain air. The gardens include rhododendrons, perennials, herbs and vegetables. Its seven comfortably furnished guest rooms are perfect for relaxing after a day at the Biltmore Estate, shopping, golfing, hiking, skiing, rafting, trail rides or partaking of local natural hot mineral baths. Breakfasts include such treats as the inn's signature frittata, homemade bread and muffins.
