Circa 1886. Three acres surround this three-story historic Victorian mansion. A chandelier lights the entrance. Some of the rooms offer gas fireplaces and clawfoot tubs, and all are furnished with Victorian antiques. For instance, a king-size Victorian bed, original to the house, is one of the features of the Millard E. Tydings Room, also offering a decorative fireplace and sitting area. The innkeeper creates gourmet breakfasts with freshly baked scones or muffins. Spend some time in the garden where a summer gazebo is supported by 12 cedar tree trunks.

Roasted Tomato Bisque

This easy soup is a favorite with our corporate retreat guests. Serve with fresh mozzarella and tomatoe paninis for an updated grilled cheese and tomato soup combo.

Roast Garlic Crusted Beef Tenderloin

This easy and elegant beef tenderloin recipe wins raves from our wedding guests every time. BJs and Costco have excellent whole beef tenderloins. Be sure to completely trim the membranes off the tenderloins before coating.

Cranberry Apricot Chutney

This is an extremely forgiving recipe. Any dried or fresh fruits work well. The chutney makes an excellent accompaniment to pork, chicken or beef dishes. Try stuffing a whole pork loin with it for an elegant fall dish.

Smoked Duck And Mushrooms On Mixed Greens With Parmesan Crisps And Carmelized Onion Vinaigrette

A savory hot salad that works great as a first course or light lunch. The parmesan crisps sound hard but once you get the hang of them, they are easy to make.

Gouda Stuffed Chicken Breasts With Spiced Apple Sauce

A nice and easy recipe for company. The flavors of the smoked gouda and apples meld together wonderfully.

Seared Scallops On A Bed Of Spinach With Warm Ginger-orange Confit

The slightly spicy ginger and orange confit is a great accompaniment to the sweet scallops and spinach. Try to get diver scallops if possible.

Chicken Stuffed With Proscuitto, Fresh Mozzarella, And Sundried Tomatoes With Pesto Cream Sauce

Since we host so many weddings at the Inn, I\'m always having to come up with new and different stuffed chicken recipes. This is one experiment that has become a staple on our menu.

Butternut Squash And Roast Pear Bisque With Smoked Cheddar Croutons

This fall soup was created for our recent wine dinner. The roasted pear and smoked cheddar flavors pare beautifully with a slightly oaky Chardonney.

Heaven on Earth

I've stayed at the Vandiver Inn approx 4 0r 5 times. The rooms are very relaxing & cozy. The early morning breakfast is perfect to start your day, and the Inn-keepers are the most gracious of host! If you stay, don't forget to write in your rooms journal! The historic town of Havre de Grace is the my favorite place to go, to experience pure Heaven on Earth, and the Vandiver Inn is where I'll be!
