El Caminto has inspired me to redecorate my home. There are no words to describe the need for the vacation that we had. If we had opted for a hotel instead of the casita... there is no way it would have been the same. We had more fun than we could have imagined. Watch your step walking up to the landing. You will be greeted with the most quaint and impeccably decorated vacation home we have ever stayed in. Seriously, I'm going cafe curtain crazy. Down to the the squeaky wood floors and the light flooded windows... this place does not disappoint. It is spa designed to rejuvenate my soul.
You will at one point discover that the couch is a very comfortable sleeper. You and your partner will pull the sofa out and you will lay a blanket down. You will, no matter how hard you fight it, eventually order take out food and watch Sex and the City until you pass out on your pallet from your food coma. This is a guarantee.
The location was perfect, a little bit of a walk to the plaza, but we didn't mind the less than 5 minute drive. The walk to Canyon Road was a beautiful mansion speckled dirt road leading the best food EVER. Anyone who visits HAS to check out Parker... The coolest bartender at coolest tapas restaurant, el Ferrol. Be careful, though, your bar tab will creep up on you as quickly as the alcohol and the elevation... DANGER WILL ROBINSON. Geronimos for dinner will leave you speechless and Pasquals for breakfast makes you want to DIE.
Shopping shopping shopping. The only disappointment were the middle eastern shop owners that seemed to be to eager to make a sale. Later we heard from a shop owner in Madrid that a lot of their merchandise was made in China... Make sure you do your research before buying.
You have to make the drive to Taos to see the Pueblo and the Gorge Bridge... Stop at the visitors center and get a map from the lady with the crazy big hair... Im from Texas so you know when I say crazy big hair, I mean CRAZY BIG HAIR. Take the High Road up and the Low Road down. Simply breathtaking. I never knew a purple mountain before.
Side-note, check out the Museums on Museum Hill in Santa Fe. The International Folk Art Museum has one of the coolest collections that I have ever seen...in any museum, ever. Go, and you will know what I am talking about.
Warning... El Caminto is addicting. I will be posting photos soon, I will tag you, and you will see why we love this place.
Thank you Two Casitas and Wendy for providing us a get away that we can now call our vacation home EVERY FEBRUARY... (Hopefully they will not be working on the deck next year) See you in 2013.
