Palms and cypress trees shade the three-story historic stone house and the inn's Tamarisk tree is home to a family of great horned owls that nest here every year. The inn is appealingly decorated with polished maple floors providing the backdrop for comfortable furnishings and antiques. There are five fireplaces. The Great Room is partially covered by a 22-by-36-foot braided rug made by Fanny Bryce. In addition to the guest rooms in the main house and the museum, there are seven creatively decorated cottages, each with a kitchenette and some with a fireplace. In spring, the inn is famous for its free Serendipity Tea where more than 200 women join in the festivity and wear hats, long dresses and may come barefoot as long as they bring a fabulous dessert.
