Hania's Bed & Breakfast

Situated above historic downtown Truckee, this white farmhouse Victorian framed by a white picket fence offers visitors a panoramic view of mountains and the town. A hot tub, especially inviting during sunsets and on starry nights, is popular with guests. Inside, the interiors are decorated in a Southwestern decor and offer a touch of European elegance. Guest rooms feature log furnishings. Breakfast specialties include eggs a la Hania, Polish-style potato pancakes and crepes with cinnamon apple served in the dining area. In the afternoon, complimentary wine is offered from a rustic bar in front of the wood stove. Restaurants are just downhill, and factory stores as well as the old jail are nearby.

The Truckee Hotel

As guests enter the historic Truckee Hotel they are suddenly transported back to the Victorian era, and one can almost imagine the days when the hotel served as a stagecoach stop. Eventually, the hotel became home to railroad workers who were building the Transcontinental Railroad. By the turn of the 20th century, the hotel once again served vacationers to the Truckee area. The interior boasts a rich, authentic Victorian decor. In guest rooms, antiques, canopy beds and clawfoot tubs add to the historic romance. Weekend guests enjoy afternoon tea service, and the hotel has a restaurant and bar that serve lunch and dinner daily, as well as Sunday brunch. There is also a gift boutique and cigar shop on the premises. The area offers many places to go, including Donner Lake and the historic Emigrant Trail. More than one dozen ski areas are located within 25 miles.
