Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn

Sapphire water meets a rugged rocky coastline in a wind-protected cove south of Patrick's Point State Park. Perched atop a bluff, the inn offers magnificent unobstructed ocean views of the huge seastacks known as the Turtle Rocks. Now designated as national monuments, the Turtle Rocks were landmark seastacks for the Yurok Indians and today are landmarks for the U.S. Coast Guard and fishermen. Guests may observe a sea lion colony and possibly migrating whales. Four of the five bedrooms and the one suite have their own private deck with glass panels that overlook the Pacific. Double-walled construction lends peace and privacy to each guest room. The breakfast buffet includes two hot main dishes like quiche or stratta, a hot potato dish, fresh cut fruit salad, fresh-baked yeast rolls, coffee cake, granola, yogurt and more. Watch the ocean from the Great Room with its huge picture windows, or stroll out onto the "Whale Watch" deck for fresh air. Less than a mile's walk from the inn is the entry to the 632-acre oceanfront Patrick's Point State Park. The local area is also part of the Pacific Flyway, a continental migration route for birds. Five miles to the north is Big Lagoon, a nesting and feeding site for a large bird population.

The Lost Whale B&B Inn

The view from this Cape Cod-style inn is one of the best in Northern California. Views from the deck and the inn's more than eight oceanfront acres offer rugged coastline vistas and an endless sea, dotted from time to time with whales. The wooded and landscaped grounds, which includes a private beach, offer joy and adventure to guests, as do the rooms, several of which feature ocean views. The innkeepers offer two sleeping lofts for children and a playground area. The gourmet breakfast is hearty. Arrive in time for afternoon tea and be sure to soak in the outdoor hot tub.
