Tipsy Butler B&B

11 High St
Newcastle, ME 04553
United States of America

(207) 563-3394

Circa 1845. Sprawled on two acres of lawns with gardens bordering the Greek Revival house, this bed and breakfast is open year-round in a delightful coastal village. Sit on one of the two-story covered front porches. Relax with a good book or try your hand at croquet. Spacious, air-conditioned guest bedrooms on all three floors boast views of the twin villages of Damariscotta and Newscastle. Stay in a room with a King-size fourpost bed, floor to ceiling windows or clawfoot tub. Savor the fragrance of hot coffee and a home-cooked breakfast every morning. Begin with a pastry and fresh fruit then linger over a main course of cream cheese-stuffed French toast with wild Maine blueberry sauce, breakfast pizza, cheddar and potato bake, southern pecan pancakes or garden vegetable frittata with a meat entrée and beverages. Special dietary needs are accommodated.

we have stayed here several times, winter and summer. Sarah and Tony always make us feel welcome, remember what we and our kids like, and make us feel at home. Rooms are beautifully done, and common areas are lovely, as well. Easy to get to, close to many popular sites. we love it here!

Owner Sarah is the most charming hostess I have ever encountered, and the hotel is impeccably-kept. Guests needs, both commonplace and individual, are anticipated and tended to with easy swiftness. Never have we felt more pleased with our lodgings. The rooms are spacious and gorgeous; the beds, a sea of perfect comfort. There is the charm of a small coastal town, the elegance of a beautifully restored mansion, the tranquility of natural outdoor beauty streaming in through the giant windows, and pleasant society in the drawing and dining rooms. We meant to only stay for a night, but couldn't bring ourselves to leave until we absolutely had to!

We stumbled upon The Tipsy Butler quite by accident during an unscheduled portion of a recent vacation. What a delight! Beautifully decorated rooms, a comfortable bed that is very hard to leave in the morning, a wide array of movies available in the DVD library, and a very yummy breakfast made to order. All this within walking distance of delightful local shops and restaurants. And the best part of all are hosts Sarah and Tony who couldn't have made us feel more welcome (and we didn't even have a reservation!) We'll now be looking for reasons to return to this beautiful area of Maine--and when we do, The Tipsy Butler will definitely be a part of our plans.
