Description

Circa 1890. The innkeeper here loves to cook for guests so breakfast is an event not to be missed. Egg and cheese strata, orange pancakes, homemade granola, hash browns, sausage gravy and biscuits, and scones are just some of the options served by candlelight on elegant china. Guests have the option of four guest rooms on the second floor; however, to give everyone the privacy of their own bathroom only two couples are booked at a time. Business travelers will be pleased to find a desk and high-speed wireless Internet in each room. Ceiling fans and central air and heat keep the inn comfortable year-round. Mitzi, the friendly, resident Yorkie, is happy to welcome housebroken pets into her home; Pontiac is centrally located in Illinois and features the Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum and the Livingston County War Museum.

Romantic Interest

Our inn is very small and we only take 2 couples at a time allowing us to spoil our guests. Because we have so few guests, it is very quiet and couples are often the only ones here.

What's Green About Your Inn

We recycle aluminum, plastic, clean paper, light bulbs, unrepairable appliances, clothing, cardboard, boxes. We don't change linens daily unless we change guests daily. We offer filtered water from our reverse osmosis tank instead of bottled water. We use low wattage bulbs and ask that our guests turn off lights and televisions when not in their room.

Describe Garden and Grounds

David takes care of the gardening. In early spring we have many blooming plants and floral fragrances. Our grounds are not large, but what we have is full of plants and flowering plants. We add something new each year.

Reservation/Cancellation Policies:

Cancellation

Because we are such a small business, cancellations affect us greatly. Deposits are refunded with at least one week's notice less a $25 administrative fee and are forfeited with less than 3 days notice, unless we are able to rebook the room(s) that night, then the $25 fee applies per reservation. Rooms cannot be held without a valid credit card.

Historic Interest

Our inn was built in the late 1800's and was first owned by a business man who had a boys shoe store in Pontiac. Several families owned the home for a number of years before we purchased the home in September of 2006.

Trip to the ER

Just a quick note to say thanks for all your assistance and wonderful hospitality during my stay. You were extremely kind when I sprained my ankle and it really meant a lot to me that you picked me up from the ER! Really above and beyond! The B&B was so beautiful and breakfast was delicious - I especially loved the coffee. Thanks again for your extra-ordinary kindness.

Had to have the recipe

Dear Sharon, You have created such a beautiful Victorian home that is enchanting. We loved our room, and the bed: so comfortable. Your company was nice to have and so much fun. Eating on the porch was delightful. Your food was excellent! Thanks for the rhubarb cake and the recipe! When we make it, we'll think of you. Thanks again for a delightful stay.

Lovely experience

We came to Pontiac for a car show and drove our classic car. Sharon was so kind to allow us to park in her garage. We had a lovely room, very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast was excellent and exactly what we requested. It was lovely at the end of breakfast the hostess sat and visited with us. A very nice mix of privacy and hospitality.

Fantastic place to stay

We started our Route 66 with 2 nights at the Three Roses and couldn’t have chosen a better place. We were in Jennifer’s room which is just delightful and at the back of the house so you get that little bit of extra peace & quiet although I have to say the main road is not that busy so there isn’t much noise anywhere at all. Sharon, the innkeeper, promises that breakfast is an event and she definitely delivers on that promise! The freshly squeezed grapefruit was the nicest I’ve ever tasted and the fruit bowl was to die for; my husband was equally impressed with the cooked breakfast too. The presentation is exceptional – fresh white table linen, Royal Albert china and beautiful glasses for the juice. We ate out on the porch overlooking the gardens and Sharon joined us to share her extensive knowledge of Pontiac which was really helpful. She is such a lovely lady but the real star of the show is Mitzi, her beautiful little Yorkie! Such a cute little dog, we wanted to take her on our road trip with us. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here and if we’re ever in Pontiac again we’ll definitely be booking in.

Surprisingly Unique

Our children purchased a one night stay for us at the Three Roses Bed and Breakfast. We were in the area to attend a contemporary Christian concert. We have stayed in many B & B's in the Northwest lower peninsula of Michigan and have had wonderful experience. Our negative prejudice was, "what could be that interesting in Pontiac, IL." Well, were we surprised. This is the heart of the famous Route 66 Highway in IL. There are unique museums in Pontiac that will warrant us going back there again in order to spend more time to check out the historical memorabilia. Most unique was our stay at the Three Roses Bed and Breakfast. The host, Sharon Hansen, dished out to us a special "down home" style of hospitality. The facility is well kept and Sharon's open transparency made our stay one of learning about the area and affording us the opportunity to connect interpersonally. The whole experience was refreshing. Another unique feature of the inn is the flexibility for breakfast times and variety of breakfast options. Most B & B's have a set eating time and a set menu. We were so overtaken with the breakfast we had that we had to purchase Sharon's personal cookbook. We had a great time!!!!
