Circa 1913. Mary Johnston, who wrote the book "To Have and to Hold," built this inn, which rests on 38 mountainous acres. In 1917, Mary and her sisters opened the home to guests, earning a reputation for the home's view of the Allegheny Mountains and Warm Springs Gap. The innkeepers now offer lodging in the antique-filled main house or adjacent cottages. Some rooms include private decks, while others have fireplaces or clawfoot tubs. Each of the cottages includes a kitchen; one has a working fireplace, while another offers a wood-burning stove.
