The Winsor House Inn
390 Washington StDuxbury, MA 02332-4552
Circa 1803. A visit to this inn is much like a visit back in time to Colonial days. The early 19th-century home was built by a prominent sea captain and merchant, Nathaniel Winsor, as a wedding gift for his daughter, Nancy. With an eye for the authentic, the innkeepers have restored parts of the inn to look much the way it might have when the young bride and groom took up residence. Rooms are decorated with Colonial furnishings, canopied beds and fresh flowers. Guests may enjoy a drink or a casual dinner at the inn's English-style pub. For a romantic dinner, try the inn's Dining Room, which serves everything from roasted venison with a juniper berry and mushroom crust to herb-seared salmon with plum tomato saffron vinaigrette.
