Weekend Getaway

The Taylor House exceeded our expectations. It is located in an ideal spot that allows for easy access to all of the location attractions. Breakfast was incredible, Tessa takes great pride in her preparation. The rooms were very clean and had plenty of space. Always a snack and tea available at the end of the day. Thank you Bernard and Tessa for a great weekend.

Wonderful Place

We have stayed here twice now. The first time was by a series of unforeseen events. The second time was based on past experience. These are great people, warm and friendly, and Tessa is a wonderful cook. Bernard has a terrific memory and will not forget you if you return for another stay. We love this place.

Awesome Ski Weekend

The couple who owns this B&B are absolutely wonderful. The breakfast is great, the location is 20 minutes from Sugar Mtn, and their price is unbeatable.

Lovely Lovely Lovely

My boyfriend and I chose this place because of all the amazing reviews and everything that everyone says is completely true. The couple who runs Taylor House Inn are genuinely kind people who really do just want you to have the best weekend possible. The breakfast was amazing! We felt like we were being treated like royalty. The location is great- far enough away from everything that you feel like you're at a getaway in the mountains, but close enough for a short drive to anywhere you want to go. I definitely recommend this place for everyone!

Cute and comfy inn, great owners, g

This inn was a great deal overall. Price was less or comparable to Boone hotels, much cheaper than a mountain resort stay. Service was friendly and personable, rooms were clean and taken care of every day, and breakfast included is hot and filling. It is 20 minutes to Boone, 15-20 minutes to Sugar Mountain, so it is a getaway tucked away in the mountains that is conveniently close to activities.

Wonderful Weekend Trip

The Taylor House Inn is very warm and inviting. We enjoyed the clean room and comfortable furniture. The bed was an amazing sleeper and we only got out of bed to go skiing. Breakfast was ready when we arrived downstairs and was extremely good and filling. The Russos didn't impose on our stay but were very cordial and helpful with getting us on our way in the morning. This was our first time staying at a B&B and we will definitely be staying at the Taylor House Inn soon. A wonderful weekend getaway.

Wonderful stay!

We were upgraded to a room in the house the moment we arrived. Innkeepers could not have been more accommodating. Changed our breakfast time to an hour earlier upon our request so we could hit the slopes sooner. Breakfast was amazing! Eggs Benedict and other French foods as well, all from scratch! Will be back!

Thanksgiving Destination

I stayed at the Taylor House Inn for Thanksgiving with my family this year, the atmosphere and the food were excellent. The meals were exceptional, in both quality of the ingredients and in the portions. both days my family went hiking in the surrounding mountains and the breakfasts were so hearty that we didn't even notice that we hadn't eaten lunch. The inn is located a bit off the path, but the drive is fun and the setting is quite picturesque, definitely worth the drive. I would return to the Taylor Inn again in a heartbeat.

Of all the B&Bs my wife and I have stayed at throughout the southeast, the Taylor House Inn is by far our favorite. The hosts are wonderful, the meals excellent, and the views marvelous. It was our first time there but it won't be our last.

Fabulous as Usual!

After having our wedding at the Taylor House Inn last year, we decided to revisit the B&B for our one-year anniversary. It was so incredible. Bernard and Tessa had upgraded our room, provided us a bottle of champagne and chocolates and the sweetest card ever. I absolutely adore this bed and breakfast and love Tessa and Bernard like extended family members! Thanks for everything!!!

Beautiful stay

Tessa and Bernard are 2 of the kindest and most hospitable people you could ever hope to meet. Every question or request was responded to with a smile. The rooms were spacious, clean and inviting. The 2 course gourmet breakfasts were promptly served as promised and special diet requests were accommodated. I sincerely hope to have many more stays at the Taylor House Inn. It felt like home, while on vacation.

Wedding at the Inn

In general, the owners of the Taylor House Inn were one ofthe key ingrediants to our wonderful wedding. The breakfast were a fantastic start to each day (food was excellent and the numerous guests were well taken care of in each case). The owners also offered thier assistance in many of the wedding set-up situations that occured over two days of hectic activities. I did not expect assistance in setting-up the rehersal dinner via caterers and our own planns but the owner was there offereing assistance and making suggestions during the entire time. Both of the owners were extremely helpful but not forceful or limiting. Great experience and I would recommend the Taylor House Inn to other wedding parties or as a simple, very relaxing get-a-way!

Great relaxing place to stay!

The Taylor House Inn was a really quite relaxing place to stay! The rooms were very nice and extremely clean. The bed was really comfortable and we enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch. The inn keepers were extremely friendly. The breakfast was very french which I am not so fond of personally, but I'm sure it would have been excellent for someone who likes a french breakfast. They did have a delightful homemade peach pastry that I really enjoyed. We would definately visit again!!! NOTE: If you do visit and wish to have a TV in your room make sure that you request a room with a TV.

Romantic ...restful

We enjoyed our visit to the Taylor House Inn. The quiet setting amongst trees in the NC mountains is beautiful and romantic as you step back in time. The house itself is beautiful and the room we stayed in was tremendous. The Inn provided the opportunity to be alone or mingle with interesting guests.

Great place in Valle Crucis

We stayed at Taylor House Inn for a couple nights on our honeymoon. Tessa and Bernard, the innkeepers, were very friendly and helpful. Bernard gave us many suggestions for things to do and places to eat in the area. Breakfasts were well-prepared, and we found tea, coffee, and a sweet treat (like cake) available at any time of the day. Our room was in a separate cottage from the main house of the inn, and was just right for us. Nice big bed, A/C, mini-fridge, big bathroom, nice windows and light. We enjoyed our stay both at the Inn and in the area, and would definitely return.

Family Reunion

The Taylor House inn was chosen to be the site of our first big family reunion... We did luck out.... Great place, magnificent surrounding.... and a service that surpassed our wildest dreams... We stayed in the "Ant Sue" room... cozy and romantic. Tessa and Bernard went out of their way to make our stay both confortable and guided us thru the many family activities "picnic, hiking, rafting". Thank you Tessa and Bernard to make our stay so wonderful

2010 Family Time

Our family is huge and quite gathered around the globe: france, swiss, louisiana, florida, carribbean.... The Taylor House inn with Tessa and Bernard made our stay (Aunt Sue room), made us feel right at home. The children had a lot of fun playing in the yard and us relaxing on the porch talking about old times all night long. Tessa and Bernard were the ultimate hosters and pointed us to some incredible sightseeing and outdoor journeys.

Familly Reunion - Priceless

For our familly reunion this year, we choose the Taylor House Inn for the mountains, the surrounding, the peace... Being a large familly, we booked the whole inn for 5 days. We will cherish this one forever. The place is super. The surrounding so inviting, Tessa and Bernard went out of their way to make every moments count, pointing out some attractions for both adults and kids and making sure we were taken care of at all times. Relaxing and reconnecting together while watching the children play and run in the yard: Priceless, a little slice of heaven. We were in the Attic Suite.... Spacious, inviting , fresh flowers every day, and of course the grand children jumping on our bed in the morning. It was hard to part again with our familly, but also felt the same about the Taylor House Inn, Tessa and Bernard... Perfect vacation, Priceless memories.....

Best Family Reunion Ever

This family reunion here at the Taylor House Inn was one of a kind. I've never met such wonderful and caring people before! Tessa and Bernard even helped us plan many family outings with their vass knowledge of the towns near by. The house was so warm and it felt just like home which was perfect for such an event! With their hospitality, the scenery, and the inviting warmth of the beds this has been, by far the best family reunion we have ever had! I can promise that we will be coming here for every family reunion that we have from now on.

Family get together 2010

I arrived at the Taylor House in on Monday at 5 am. The Inn Keepers Tessa and Bernard were ready to accomodate. My husband and I stayed in the Flower Cottage which was magnificient!!!...I am the type of person that has a hard time sleeping in a bed not of my own, but the bed was fantastic!...The Inn was able to fit my entire family and anytime we were in need of anything, they were ready!...This was the best Family get together EVER!..Truely a home away from home!!!

What a wonderful time we had !

After sleeping 5 nights in the impeccably clean room called Little Room in the Red Cottage at the Taylor House Inn, we had wonderful breafasts that were out of this world. Our hosts Bernard and Tessa recommended to us the best white water rafting that we have ever done in the state of North Carolina. They guided us around also and arranged for a picnic at the beautiful Valle Crucis Park that is so conveniently nearby. I would highly recommend this place for a fantastic family time. Just awesome !

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast!

We had a wonderful stay at the Taylor House Inn. We got married at the Taylor House two years ago and we continue to come back to stay for our anniversaries. Tessa and Bernard are wonderful and go above and beyond with everything they do. I would recommend the Taylor House to everyone!

MAGICAL!!!!

Absolutely the best experience you'll ever have in your lifetime. We were greeted by the most gracious innkeepers Bernard and Tessa Russo. They provided the best of the best experiences for a B&B. The food, the accomodations, the beauty of the historic Taylor House itself and the overall atmosphere was nothing less than spectacular! I highly recommend the Taylor House if you want the most magical experience in your life.

A wonderful setting and beautiful

The inn keepers were excellent hosts. They gave great ideas for restaurants and things to do. The rooms are nice and the setting is very peaceful and quiet. The front porch is very relaxing. We enjoyed peach tea and apple pie on the porch. I always stay here when I'm in the mountains. Great breakfast too! Will continue to stay here. I was here for a cycling event and the hosts packed me a breakfast the night before since I would be cycling during breakfast. Great place to stay.

Review of Taylor House

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Taylor House. This was our first time staying in a Bed and Breakfast, and it certainly exceeded our standards. Our room was large and comfortable, breakfast was good, snacks (cakes) were awesome), and the front porch was relaxing. We would definitely stay at Taylor House again.

Idyllic charming getaway

The Taylor House Inn is in a gorgeous mountain valley just a hop from Boone and Blowing Rock. We went for a walk after we checked in, and it was like being in a post card. We passed by farms and saw all kinds of animals. Our room was perfect and very relaxing. The French Innkeepers gave added European charm. The breakfast was amazing. Will go back for sure.

Well Worth It

Tessa is one of the most talented chefs I have had the pleasure of dining with. Breakfast was elegant and more than enough to fill us up for a day of hiking. Bernard was galant in helping us with our bags and keeping our coffee cups full! They were very entertaining and knowledgable about the history of the home and the local area. I would definitely recommend this BnB to others.

We had a wonderful time at the Taylor House Inn B&B! The room was perfect - beautifully decorated, cozy and had everything we needed. The inn keepers could not have been nicer or more helpful! Amazing !

We found that the Taylor House Inn had the best prices in the area, it even beat out the chain hotels. When we arrived they had upgraded our room to the second largest room in the house since it was our anniversary with no extra cost. The place is the cleanest place we've ever stayed at and they stayed on top of everything. Tessa makes a top of the class breakfast each morning. We had forgotten to put in any requests, likes or dislikes and weren't sure what to expect. Each morning we were excited to see what was going to be served because the day before was so good. Very impressive ! Bernard and Tessa both have a very strong gift of hospitality, we're so,so happy we chose to stay at the Talyor House Inn. The rooms were all very beautiful and each one unique. The Valle Crusis area is definately the perfect spot to stay at, it's about 10-15 minutes depending on weather and traffic away from everything with a perfect view of the mountains. Very charming. We can't wait to be able to return !

Charming Owner - Charming Inn

My sister and I were looking for a place to stay in the Boone NC area. We had asked several business owners what they would recommend. Taylor House inn was recommended. We were fortunate to get the very last room available. As we had arrived farely late, we were please the owner was there to greet us. The room was very comfortable....no comparison to the chain hotels/motels. Breakfast was delightful. I would encourage you to go a little out of your way to stay at this lovely inn.

The rooms, service, views, cleanliness, breakfast and comfort of this Inn were impeccable! The Inn is beautiful and the Inn Keepers are the perfect hosts! They welcome you to their home and treat you like family and royalty at the same time. Stunning

Every aspect of our stay was simply unparalleled. The Inn Keepers dedication to ensuring the best possible experience was remarkable. Their high ratings are well deserved. We look forward to staying there again the next time we're in the area. I don't think I could go back to "mainstream commercial lodging" in the High Country after this. The Taylor House Inn was Magical!

Our daughter chose the Taylor House Inn for the location of her outdoor wedding. Tessa and Bernard's lovely B & B and flower gardens provided a beautiful backdrop for the wedding ceremony and the photos. On the day of the wedding I was impressed and pleased to see windows being shined, the porch being swept, and carpets being vacuumed. This attention to detail showed me to what lengths Tessa and Bernard were willing to go to make it a perfect occasion. The first floor suite with parlor provided more than ample space for the bride, her attendants, and all of the wedding accoutraments. My favorite room was the bright and cheerful dining room where Tessa served her scrumptious breakfasts. Tessa and Bernard were wonderful hosts and lent their help in unexpected and totally appreciated ways. I'd return to this beautiful B&B in this beautiful location in a heartbeat!

Beauty, Romance, Relaxation.

Beauty, Romance,Relaxation Taylor House Inn By far the BEST B&B we have ever visited. Tessa and Bernard were so kind and wonderful. They made our stay truly perfect. When we arrived, our son had gotten car sick, and we had quite a mess to clean up. They were so understanding, so helpful, and made us feel right at home. Let us use their hose and laundry; they really went above and beyond all expectation to accomodate us. Tessa brought us a sprite and whipped it up to help settle our son's stomach. Bernard showed him his firefighter uniform and even let him try on the hat and coat. My son LOVES firefighters and was was blown away! They were so sweet and thoughful, I have never met more delightful people in my life. I wanted to stay there and visit with them for the rest of the month! The B&B is so beautiful, immaculate and clean. The rooms were large and comfortable. We had a delightful and sound sleep. When we left home it was 90 degrees, and by the time we reached this beautiful mountain escape, we were thrilled it was 20 degrees cooler. We slept with the windows open, the window sheers billowing in the breeze. I have never had a more rejuvenating sleep, hearing the relaxing babbling of the nearby brook in the background. Going outdoors to explore the area is gorgeous. Green, plush, quiet...we felt truly one with nature. There were so many great hiking trails, creeks and waterfalls right there in Valle Crucis. It was unbelievably relaxing and beautiful. I had never seen such beautiful scenery in person. And we loved visting Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock close by. Tessa and Bernard went out of their way to make our stay EXTRAordinary. They prepared the most delicious gourmet breakfasts for us. They were out of this world. After working in the hotel business for 12 years, my husband and I have come to expect a lot from our overnight stays; but after our experience at The Taylor House Inn B&B, we will never be satisfied with a hotel again. We are looking forward to visiting The Taylor House Inn again many times in the future. We will make this our yearly getaway. From one to ten, this B&B is definitely a 20+. You WILL love it!

InnSide Tip - Local Scenery
We went up to the St. Johns Chapel, which was beautiful, and visited the apple barn just down the road from the B&B. Across from the apple barn there is the prettiest babbling brook with a little waterfall where we waded in the cool water and enjoyed the nature around us. Close by in Boone/Blowing Rock we really enjoyed the Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock, as well as the charming local shoppes in downtown Blowing Rock. Enjoy the great weather and explore some of the great hiking trails, it is definitely worth it!

BEST Bed & Breakfast in the Smokies

My new husband and I just got back from our honeymoon at the Taylor House and was absolutely blown away from the GREAT service and environment that we experienced! We stayed in the honeymoon (attic) suite, it was so comfortable and great for a cozy getaway from the rest of the world! Mr. and Mrs. Russo keep such a wonderful inn that you really don’t believe it till you see it. The breakfast was ready everyone morning when we woke up, everyday was also something different and delicious. The linens and beds were definitely the softest I’ve ever used and were changed every day as well as having the room cleaned every day. They were so friendly and also helped us every day to find something new to do during the days of our trip. Though the towns around the inn are quaint and quiet there was so many things to do within miles of the inn. The inn was so great though that you almost want to just hang out around the house all day with its spectacular mountain view across the street and quiet, homey environment.

Relaxing and Memorable

This was a wonderful relaxing trip. The house was beautiful with plenty of space. Each room was unique. The grounds were well kept and the hosts were friendly, accommodating and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. The food was excellent; a traditional-style French breakfast. It is easy to find and there are many things to do in the area, especially places to enjoy the outdoors. We will definitely stay there again.

A must-stay Inn

Everything, from location, service, friendliness, charm, food, etc. was perfect. The food, that's a story in and of itself. A breakfast in the finest dining establishments around the world would pale next to Tessa’s. We left The Taylor House Inn feeling more like we had visited old friends Bernard and Tessa than merely met the innkeepers. If you travel anywhere remotely close to Valle Crucis, NC The Taylor House is a must-stay place. Better yet, make it your destination.

The Best B&B in NC!!

The Taylor House exceeded my expectations. The owners were gracious and the perfect balance of available and helpful but not hovering. The gardens were beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and expertly decorated, and the beds were perfect. This was the first time my 3 sons have stayed in a B&B and they loved it!! My youngest son is still talking about how great the breakfast was. I have already told 3 different couples that they need to take a long weekend at the Taylor House. It would be the perfect wedding location!! Our stay was simply perfect and we will definitely be back.

Birthday Getaway

We were in town for a birthday celebration and it was a wonderful highlight of our trip to stay at the Taylor House Inn! Several aspects of our trip were less than satisfactory but each night that we returned to the inn our spirits were lifted by the wonderful atmosphere. We were upgraded based on availablity for the birthday we were celebrating and that was awesome! Our room was extremely clean, beautifully & eclectically decorated. Bernard and Tessa are really gracious hosts and have done an excellent job as innkeepers!

our getaway to North Carolina

My husband and I planned a short trip during his semester break to North Carolina and I found the Taylor House mentioned in an ad I saw on line. I was attracted immediately to the inn...the setting was beautiful, the house looked lovely and it was very near the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. We had a wonderful two night stay at the Inn..we loved the quiet of the country, the truly GREAT breakfasts that were lovingly prepared for us and the great care the InnKeepers took to make sure our every need was taken care of...including making us a special treat when we returned home for the evening. We definitely plan to visit this inn again....it was fantastic!

Beautiful

Me and my 2 young daughters stayed at Taylor House Inn in early May. The house is clean and neat and the room was clean and comfortable. The grounds are spectacular with great views driving in. The best part of the stay was the Inn owners. Thank you so much!

InnSide Tip - Beautiful...inside and out
I stayed at the Taylor House Inn in early May with my 2 young daughters (6 and 4). The house was built in the early 1900's but it is very clean, comfortable, and doesn't smell like an old house. The room was comfortable and clean and we slept with the window open so we could hear the stream across the street. The best part of the stay is the Inn owners (Tessa and Bernard)...they really made us feel welcome and at home. Bernard even cut my youngest pancakes for her. :^)

Fairytale wedding!

On December 26, 2010 I married the man of my dreams at the TAYLOR HOUSE INN! With only two weeks notice (and Christmas right around the corner!), Tessa thought of EVERYTHING and made it look easy. She and Bernard hosted our fairytale wedding and provided our family excellent accommodations. Every time we gather we long for her egg roulade! Bernard captured every step of the weekend beautifully in photos. I could not be more pleased, every element of our wedding and stay exceeded our dreams, and the snow was a bonus! Go stay with them and tell them hello! Valle Curcis is beautiful, you won’t be disappointed! Seana Harrill

Most wonderful vacation!

I recently visited the most wonderful Bed and Breakfast nestled in Valle Crucis, NC. Not only were the rooms clean, breakfast was superb, but the customer service I received from the innkeepers, Tessa and Bernard was beyond any expectations I had. From the time I walked in the door until I left, I received top notch accommodations and service. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice getaway!

We are already staying here again!

My fiancee and I went up to Taylor House to have a middle-of-the-week "weekend getaway" (she works weekends). We saw everything online, made reservations, etc., and came up for our stay. We got a bit lost on the way inn, so we called - and Tessa expertly, and happily, directed us in. So far, so good. Then, when we arrived, we were treated to a sudden upgrade in room - an unexpected, and very much appreciated, bonus! As we needed a place to eat that night, Tessa helped us find a great little spot (she apparently knows all the great-food places in the area). Then, we settled in, had a good sleep, and awoke - to an amazing two-course breakfast. And, by "amazing," I mean AMAZING. And that's why there are so many "Outstandings" in our review. Because, frankly, they truly were "outstanding." Personally, I'm not big on giving out 5/5 reviews, since so few things are outstanding. However, Tessa & Bernard truly did provide us with an outstanding experience. And, as the title says, it was so good that ... well, I just booked our return trip. There is one note that people should be aware of: it's an older house, tucked into a valley. Given that, as you might expect, there's a bit of a smell of dampness to it. People with some breathing conditions may want to make sure you get the hypoallergenic pillows (available) and turn on the A/C to clear things out. It kinda comes with the territory. I wouldn't mention it except that I have members of my family who are sensitive to such things, so folks should know. That said, again: our experience was so wonderful, we're returning soon!

Excellent, as usual

his was a return trip for us, and we were incredibly impressed with how well we were treated by Tessa & Bernard. They treated us very well the first time; they far surpassed that mark this time! Of note: on the night we arrived, we needed a small supper - and a different one for myself and for my fiancee due to some food restrictions. Tessa and Bernard happily obliged, with delicious home-made meals at a reasonable price. If you want to take advantage of this, I'd suggest giving them (and any innkeeper) as much advance notice as possible for buying ingredients, etc. Tessa uses incredibly fresh food and makes it fresh on the spot, so please - be considerate, and let them know for planning. For breakfast, the first day, we had pumpkin pancakes - because we had mentioned in our *previous* stay that my fiancee particularly likes pumpkin pancakes, and they remembered! They also remembered her food allergies and made accommodations for those. The second day, we had the Taylor House Special breakfast of amazing smoked salmon (best I've ever had, and I've had quite a lot), delicious poached eggs with a lemon-butter-type sauce (on the side for my fiancee - again, they *remembered* our food preferences!), and wonderful fig croissants. To die for. We also requested hypoallergenic pillows - again, which they happily provided. Since we were repeat guests, they also had evidently made special notes about us for the room, as well: items that we had requested extra last time were simply available this time. Wonderful people, wonderful food, wonderful, relaxing location. Will we be back? Mais bien sur! Of course we will. :) Thanks, Tessa & Bernard!

Great B&B in Valle Crucis

The Taylor House sits amongst beautiful trees in the back and the front porch of the main house overlooks a stream and pasture. Quiet, calm and serene are words that come to mind. Anniversary Getaway

We were looking for a romantic getaway for our first anniversary. Our budget was pretty tight, but Taylor House Inn gave us the perfect B&B experience well within our budget. The house is beautiful and the rooms spotless. Lots of little amenities were included in the cost, which was a nice surprise. The Russo's are very gracious hosts, and the breakfast was wonderful. Already planning for next year, unless we find an excuses to go back sooner.

Taylor House was a last minute choice for my wife's birthday - just a one night stay. Tessa and Bernard were great hosts; we enjoyed our conversations with them. Amazing Mountain Getaway

This was the first time my husband and I had stayed at a B&B. I can't say enough great things about The Taylor House Inn! The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard, as well as the Inn itself were warm and inviting with more than I expected for a B&B. The breakfast was out of this world, plenty filling to hold you off until dinner and snacks in the early evening to keep you warm an cozy through the night (The menu was always changing). The house has many bedrooms, perfectly updated but still keeping in tact with the charm of the house. Each bedroom seemed to have its own private bathroom, which was excellent. The Inn is perfectly situated between all of the local ski spots (Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian Mountains),waterfalls, hiking, and towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. The Inn Keepers are very familiar with the area and provided excellent ideas for fun filled days. It was the perfect accommodation for our long weekend getaway to appreciate all the simple things in life. This is a must stay for all those traveling to the mountains. We will definitely return with friends and family.

Spring Break 2012

We had the best time at the Taylor House Inn. Never been there before and no one recommended it to us. Found it online and what a find. Bernard and Tessa are surely in the right business for they made our stay VERY PLEASANT!!! Bernard is your go to person, but he gets to you before you can get to him. He has lots of ideas and suggestions on what to do or where to go or places to eat. We took his advice a lot and it paid off nicely. Tessa is an AMAZING cook and it shows. I have never have- nor will I again unless I return there- eaten breakfast as I did there. May I say OMG!!!! They clearly love what they are doing and that is being hospitable. It was a very relaxing, quiet, enjoyable few days stay and I cannot wait to go there again. Such a beautiful old house!

From the enticing front porch to the wonderfully appointed room to the delightful breakfasts, the Taylor House and it's innkeepers exceeded all expectations. The Russo's have not missed a single detail to insure that our stay was a 5-star experience. Squire Suite

We stayed in the Squire Suite on the first floor. The room is very spacious, however the walls are very thin and we could hear much of the conversation and noise outside our suite. The breakfast was very good and the view beautiful. If we were to stay again it would on the second floor or in the cottage.

Pleasant Stay Away

The inn is old and comfortable, with none of the fussiness of Victorian decor. Artwork is original and done by family members. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable with nice linens. The baths work well; plenty of hot water and pressure. We visited the original Mast General Store on the weekend when there were two bluegrass bands for entertainment, drove the Blueridge Parkway and traveled to Yadkin Valley wineries. The service was excellent and the best part is the Russos themselves; charming, hospitable and with excellent suggestions for evening meals.

Fabulous B&B

We stayed at the Taylor House at the end of May 2012 for our anniversary weekend and Tessa and Bernard were so hospitable, but definitely not overbearing. The location is gorgeous – a perfect distance to feel secluded but not so much that you actually are. The house itself is beautiful and the room we stayed in was so relaxing (Aunt Doris Room #2)! The décor is more updated than what is shown in the current website photo (very pleasing to the eye). The food was absolutely delicious!! A made from scratch, two course gourmet breakfast was served every morning. Tessa is a fabulous cook – she was even able to accommodate my dairy-free diet without blinking. This was such a wonderful experience that my husband and I are looking forward to making this the place we visit every year for our anniversary – Lord willing!

A great place to stay

We stayed here with our two granddaughters. We stayed in 'The Twins Room' which has two queen beds. We were comfortable. The breakfast was gourmet and delicious. The quiet location seems remote at first, but is actually close to everything in the area. We love it and will stay here again!

Wedding at the Inn

We had our wedding at the Taylor House Inn in May 2012. Bernard and Tessa were wonderful to work with. They assisted with any details that we needed help with and were flexible about our last minute changes and requests. The wedding ended up beautiful thanks to their assistance and the well-kept inn. My family also stayed at the Inn for the weekend of the wedding and the Inn-services were awesome. It is a wonderful place that I would highly recommend for an event or vacation. Great hospitality balanced by privacy. It is also an amazing value for what you get.

Best Wedding Location in NC

June 16, 2012 - We held our daughter and son-in-laws wedding reception at the Taylor House Inn, Banner Elk, NC the Inn Keepers and Owners Tessa and Bernard Russo are the most gracious people I have ever meet. They opened their beautiful home and hearts to us all, the wedding reception was amazing under the big white tent with mountain views all around. It is the wedding location of a lifetime. Tessa and Bernard helped make our day absolutely amazing. We left Banner Elk that Sunday knowing we had made two new great friends. I would highly recommend the Taylor House Inn for a Wedding, any event, or just to get away. You will stay and then you will return, the beauty of the Taylor House Inn and the generosity of Bernard and Tessa just draws you in.

Enter as strangers leave as friends

The house is just as charming as I imagined! The breakfasts are delicious and served beautifully. The real treasurers of the Taylor House Inn are our new friends Tessa & Bernard, their hospitality made us fell right at home. Dr. & Mrs. Davis, Black Mountain, NC

Beautiful Inn

I loved the setting of the inn. The best part was the wonderful breakfasts Tessa made. The bed was comfortable and the large porch was great for relaxing in the evening. The cookies and tea in the afternoon were great also. The coffee was too strong for my taste but they had a wonderful, selection of teas that I enjoyed very much.

Our Weekend at the Taylor House Inn

We had a delightful weekend at the Taylor House Inn. The Innkeepers, Tessa and Bernard Russo were nothing but wonderful in their care for our needs and in bringing us into their beautiful B & B. I highly recommend this Inn for a very memorable stay in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.

Bernard and Tessa are excellent hosts. The inn is beautifully decorated, cool, and clean. Delicious breakfasts were served every morning. Bernard even carried my suitcase up and down the stairs. The bed was nice and soft. I can hardly wait to return!

Romantic

We weren't sure where we'd be staying on our way home from Knoxville, so the night before we were looking at B&B's and hotels in the Boone area. We saw only positive comments about Taylor House and that clinched it for us! Those comments were absolutely correct---Taylor House is a truly delightful place to stay. The Inn Keepers, Tessa and Bernard are wonderful hosts---very helpful about places to eat and interesting places to see, and they served us a delicious breakfast also:) The Inn is charming and very clean and comfortable. If you are used to watching TV all the time, you will learn how to communicate with each other again since the room did not have one (a positive comment!) We are looking forward to going back soon, and will also be recommending it to our friends.

Wonderful Getaway

Just got back from a two nite stay at the Taylor House B&B. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The room was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. The breakfasts were delicious. I had my first crepe - how yummy!! The innkeepers did everything possible to make our stay an enjoyable one. I am already planning our next visit.

Wonderful Wedding

My friends got mairried outside this charming Inn on September 22nd, 2012. It was a perfectly beautiful place to stay, and Tessa & Bernard made the events easy for everyone. They are kind, reasonable hosts whom genuinely love what they do, and it shows in the quality of service, comfort and consideration. Do yourself a favor, and stay here for a weekend. The Worst B & B

My wife and I stayed at this B & B for two nights. The general living room was cold, and the owners were miserly, didn't want to heat the place. Our bedroom was equally cold, and the gas heater was a torture to turn on and off. The shower was a real disaster. It is a rickety affair, one was afraid to get in and out. The most terrible aspect was the breakfast. The so-called chef's specials were inedible. When we asked for toast and cereal, our host wasn't very happy. After a long delay, a few pieces of limp toast and an old box of cheerios were presented. Then we had to request a bowl, which was again given grudgingly. The coffee was too strong, and when we asked for a lighter brew, our host suggested we add hot water!!! Now you know how our host drives a Porsche!!!

Winter Vacation

A five day stay at Taylor House was one of the most pleasant B&B experiences we've had. The inn keepers are welcoming and ready to accommodate all your needs. Tessa is a magnificent chef. Breakfast was different every day, always fresh, delicious, and unhurried. The historical inn is well-maintained and comfortable with dual heating systems and a super comfy bed. We particularly appreciated the art work that graced the common areas and the holiday decorations. While the inn is off the beaten path, it was still close to Boone, Sugar Mountain, Banner Elk, and Chimney Rock. The owners' restaurant recommendations were spot on. We look forward to staying at Taylor House again.

Good...but not great...

-Comfortable and clean rooms -Breakfast could be less presentation and more substance ( including American cuisine rather than French cuisine) -Inn keepers could be less stuffy and more friendly/talkative -NO children should be allowed on the premises (including relatives of the inn keepers)...or it should be more clear on the website that this IS NOT an adult only B and B -Location was great and close to both Boone and Banner Elk

a great place for a winter trip!

This was our first time staying at the Taylor House Inn. The inn is a short drive from multiple ski resorts, state parks and many great places to eat. Tessa and Bernard are fantastic hosts, providing us with directions and tips that helped us plan our daytime activities. Tessa is also a wonderful cook and prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. We highly recommend the Taylor House Inn if you’re planning a trip into the mountains of North Carolina!!

Stay here!!

I have no problem rating this place with all 5 stars! It was absolutely amazing and a beautiful place to stay. My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend and it was our first stay at a Bed & Breakfast. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and so delicious. Bernard was a wonderful host and suggested many fun things to do and places to eat. All of his recommendations were awesome and we would definitely stay here again.

Easily the best bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in! My wife and I checked in late and the owners were very accomodating. They also upgraded our room which we really appreciated! The breakfast was great. The owners were very happy and always had a smile on their face. They were very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for activities and resturants in the area. We will definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

My husband and I just returned from a lovely three night stay at the Taylor House Inn. We chose the Inn based on reviews we read online, and we were not disappointed. The house itself was beautiful, and the hospitality offered by Tessa and Bernard was second to none. We arrived in a cold sleet and snow mix to find that we had been upgraded to a larger room in the main house (we had booked a smaller room in a cabin). The heat had even been turned up in our room in anticipation of our arrival. The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and we had everything we needed. A small refrigerator stocked with water and soda was a welcome surprise. Downstairs, we had 24 hour access to an assortment of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the three breakfasts that were served during our stay. Everything was delicious, and Tessa enthusiastically embraced the challenge of my husband's dietary restrictions! Restaurant recommendations were excellent, as well, and Tessa even heated up our Italian food leftovers so that we could eat a quick lunch before taking off for an afternoon of skiing at nearby Sugar Mountain. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and relaxing stay, and we will surely find our way to the Taylor House Inn again soon!

Romantic B&B

We spent the weekend of March 1st to celebrate our marriage anniversary and we couldn't choose better. The place is beautiful, full of personality. Tessa and Bernard are perfect hosts, providing all we need to feel at home. The breakfast is delicious and sophisticated. In the living room, there's a sign saying: "enter as strangers, leave as friends" and I wouldn't describe better.

Wonderful surprise

My husband and I reserved The Flower Cottage for an overnight stay on our anniversary. When we arrived, we were offered a free upgrade to Aunt Nancy's Room. What a wonderful surprise!! Lovely place!

The Taylor House Inn is located just outside of Boone, N.C. and is beautiful. The room and bathroom were spacious and extremely clean! The large windows in our room provided a pleasant, cool breeze overnight....awakening to birds singing. The owners were very pleasant. The house is located in a serene, relaxed area.

Best B&B in NC.

Our hosts were fabulous. Tessa is a fantastic cook. All-day coffee, comfy beds, warm fires on wet days. Bernard is a joy and gave us a lovely history lesson about the historic site. Nestled in the smokey mountains of NC, we enjoyed hiking, shopping, wine tasting and so much more. Thanks for making this the best stay I've every experienced at a BYB.

Wow a wonderful place to stay. We can't thank Tessa and Bernard enough for their hospitality, you will not find two more genuine, warm and welcoming individuals. The Inn is perfect but their hospitality is what makes this place special. We plan on coming back again. We truly entered as strangers but letf as friends. Could not ask for more.

Not impressed

I found the owners to be very unbending and not accommodating at all. We had rented the entire property for a family gathering and they were disruptive at every turn. One evening when a few other family members stopped by, they were asked to leave as they were not "registered guest". We were not allowed to enjoy a cake in the dinning room because we did not purchase it from the B&B. All in all the owners made us feel very uncomfortable and ruined the weekend. The cabin I stayed in was connected to a water pipe that made noise ALL NIGHT and in the morning, I had no hot water because the owner was doing laundry. She should change her laundry schedule or forewarn the guest.

Wonderful

We stayed here this past weekend for Valentines Day and we are so ready to go back already. Bernard and Tessa were just like family by the end of our stay. We stumbled upon this after looking at a nearby facility and was disappointed in their room so we called the Taylor House who happened to have a room available! We had such a great relaxing time. Both Tessa and Bernard showed great hospitality and Tessa is an uncovered gem in the kitchen. Such a great chef. Enjoyed spending time with them and celebrating Tessa's birthday! We definitely recommend this B&B.

A WONDERFUL VALENTINE'S DAY!

My husband and I stayed at the inn for the Valentine's Day weekend and had such a great time. Tessa and Bernard are so hospitable and really put so much effort into serving a wonderful breakfast with all the extra touches. There were many other nice couples we enjoyed talking to which only added to warmth Tessa and Bernard have created at their inn. We stayed in the 'Attic', Uncle Lou's Room, and it was very comfortable, private, and spacious. If you are on the tall side the dormer ceiling in the bathroom may be an issue for you, but we had no problem. It is also great location to easily drive to Boone or Banner Elk.

Best B&B experience

We stayed a whole week at the Inn in Aunt Doris room. All rooms in the house are spacious which was a nice surprise. We usually stay at B&B when travelling and old houses tend to have small bedrooms. The Inn is very well kept and just gorgeous. There is a beautiful creek nearby and you can hear a faint sound of the water which we found so relaxing. Valle Crucis is very picturesque and local restaurants serve fresh trout. Tess and Bernard are wonderful hosts and we felt lake at home. We even got our bathrobes, bottles of water and sodas every day. Tess makes amazing breakfast and whenever we could not stay for breakfast she made sure we had juice, coffee and muffins ready to go in the morning. This was so far the best B&B we stayed in and we plan to come back some time in the fall.

Romantic, peaceful, comfortable inn

The Taylor House Inn is perfectly located near area attractions but is off the beaten path enough to have a peacefulness and charm that are very attractive. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and didn't want to leave. Tessa and Bernard are wonderful hosts. Our room had a small refrigerator with complimentary soft drinks and bottled water and a jar of chocolate kisses beside the bed. Tessa bakes a sweet treat each day for self-serve. We would help ourselves to a selection of teas , cocoa and coffee. A highlight of our trip was sitting on the side porch with a cup of tea and watching a family of deer meander across the adjacent field. Our room was spacious with a very large bathroom complete with a soaker tub. The inn is very quiet, despite being on a main road (albeit a narrow country road) between Valle Crucis and Banner Elk. Tessa is a fabulous cook and concocted an amazing breakfast each morning of our stay. French toast was my favorite. And breakfast is served in a bright, sunny dining room. All tables are beautifully set with Provencal linens and lovely china. What a treat. We would definitely go back, not only to investigate the area more but also to stay at the Taylor House.

Anniversary trip

The location was fabulous; a quick drive for us which makes it even that much better. The views from the house and the room were wonderful. The house was very cozy and made you feel right at home. The breakfast was well beyond our expectations... like eating at a 5 star hotel. There's plenty to do around the area, if you want to get out and explore. This will be an annual revisit, if not more often.

A great Bed & Breakfast near Boone and Blowing Rock, NC

We had a great time at the Taylor House Inn over the 4th of July week-end, in a very nice house well located if you want to visit the Boone / Blowing Rock area in NC, with comfortable bedrooms and great food! The hosts were delightful and really helpful. Children are welcome. We will come back

We had a lovely visit.

We stayed there last night with another couple. We had a wonderful experience. Bernard was delightful and so helpful in every way, including getting us to the restaurant since we were on motorcycles. He allowed my husband and I to stay on the first floor which we really appreciated since my husband's legs aren't good. Our room was very comfortable, clean and attractively set up. The breakfast was very nice. We had quiche a yogurt parfait, and a biscuit. We all really enjoyed conversing with Bernard. You can't go wrong here!
