Best place on the Jersey Shore

We have been frequent house guests for the last 7 years. From the cleanliness, quality of rooms, views from each rooms, wonderful breakfast and Saturday night wine and cheese, wonderful Katie who greets you at the door, and hosts, MaryEllen and Eric, there is no better place to go. We have tried others...and no other B&Bs compare!

An All-Time Favorite

My wife & I gave up counting after we stayed at our 100th B&B some years ago. So it means something when we say that Sea Spray is one of our all-time favorites. We have stayed there twice and would have gone more often, but we generally go to Ocean Grove on short notice and they are usually full. The reasons we like Sea Spray, in no particular order are: 1. Location – There is no place in Ocean Grove that has “ample” parking, but Sea Spray comes closest. It is located on the only street in town that has a grass island and two lanes of parking, each direction. Also, one of the very few parking lots is right across the street. 2. View – Being at the south edge of the town there is a “panoramic” (not just a tiny slit) view of both a lake and the ocean. The inn has porches on two levels for sitting and enjoying the views. 3. Quiet –Because of the location and the demographics of Ocean Grove, the neighborhood is extremely quiet and relaxing. We live in the country and are used to quiet, but we slept longer at Sea Spray than we ever do at home. 4. Innkeepers – The innkeepers are “naturals” when it comes to making you feel at home. They seem to always be available to answer questions or pass the time of day without being overbearing in any way. 5. Breakfasts – If you go away hungry it is your own fault! And everything is home-made (at least what we have had), not just something from Sam’s Club or Costco. And there is a nice area to serve yourself coffee, tea, etc. any time of the day. 6. Décor & Amenities – I find the décor to be very much to my personal liking. I would describe it as being Victorian without being “gaudy”. It is a very old building complete with a few squeaky floor boards, but everything is very bright, clean, and uncluttered. And the things that should be modern like the plumbing fixtures are modern and functional. And I might add that their internet is very fast and the cable TV even has music channels – a feature that we seldom find elsewhere. So, would we recommend Sea Spray? Definitely. Will we go back? Yes, if we are able to match our schedule with their availability. We stayed in “The Master Bedroom” both times we were there. We found it to be exactly as depicted on their web site so we assume the other rooms are as shown as well.

Simply the best!

We love the Sea Spray Inn! Our daughter has lived in New Jersey for about seventeen years, and we have stayed at many different places. We started to stay at the Sea Spray about four years ago, and it is by far our favorite! Mary Ellen and Eric are so warm and welcoming, and we love their dog, Katie! The breakfasts are delicious, and everything is home made. The coffee is outstanding, from a local roaster. Every detail has been thought of, and each room has its individual character with beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, and decorations and artwork that fit the theme of the room. Our daughter is now moving into a condo, so we will have a place to stay after all these years! However, we love the Sea Spray so much, we might still reserve a room once in a while! Thank you Mary Ellen and Eric for all the wonderful overnights!!!!

Charming Peaceful Escape

I gifted myself a night here for my birthday. It was a great decision. I was the only guest at the inn since it was a weekday and it was the first week of March. I stayed in the Lavender Room and added the Get Away From It All Celebration package. It was so wonderful. Everything was clean and old-fashioned yet updated. No peeling paint, nothing crumbling. It was homey and welcoming. Everything in the room was as described on the website. Very feminine. Loved the claw foot bathtub! Mary Ellen, the innkeeper was so sweet. She accommodated my vegan diet as well. She even surprised me with homemade vegan blueberry brownies when she realized it was my birthday! Breakfast was great. She served poached pear for the first course and vegan banana blueberry pancakes. When I finished eating, she asked if I wanted more since there was still batter left. Of course, I said, 'Yes!' I had a great stay. I was so relaxed. The resident Labrador Katie is a gem, too. She is very friendly. She has her own corner with a puppy gate as well. You can see the ocean from the hotel. It is a stone's throw away which is great. I will definitely be back! It's a nice retreat from a congested life! I can't praise this place enough. Room was VERY spacious, despite narrow hallway. Firm bed. There is also a communal deck on the second floor with chairs where you can see Fletcher Lake and the ocean. I didn't want to leave :(

Going home

Going to The Sea Spray is always "going home." This coming weekend we will be returning to The Sea Spray and we know "new" friends that we met there several years ago at The Sea Spray who will be there. This B&B is a gem that so many have not discovered. Each morning as you come down the stairs, you smell the wonderful breakfast that is prepared for you. SconesAZ, crumb cake and special inn coffee will be something will always be looking forward to when you stay at this inn. Yes, we're going "home" there this weekend, even though we're from Virginia.

The Very Best There Is!

Eric, MaryEllen, and Katie, There couldn't possibly be a better, more romantic place to enjoy the finer things life has to offer! Between the upbeat conversations shared with MaryEllen and Eric, the delicious meals MaryEllen creates, Her Mom's beautiful works of art , the spotless, comfy rooms and Katie's lovable company, we experienced that little piece of heaven on earth!!! The best stay in Ocean Grove

From the moment that we walked into the Sea Spray Inn we were greeted and felt very welcomed by Mary Ellen, Eric and their sweet dog, Katie. Our room was adorable and very clean. Mary Ellen was more than willing to accommodate any dietary needs for a delicious breakfast in the morning. We can't wait to come back in the spring!

A romantic spot for our anniversary

Eric, Mary Ellen and Katie (their dog) spared no effort in making us welcome and comfortable. The house and decor were the finest we've seen in any inn or b&b, and the service is impeccable. Best inn eve.

I loved my stay at the Sea Spry Inn. The room as fully stocked with wonderful toiletries and a beach bag with towels ready to be used. Home away from home but better!

Mary Ellen and Eric are amazing hosts. They took great care of us. They know everything about the area, from fun facts to the best places to eat and visit. The Inn is in excellent shape; it's sparkling clean, very comfortable, terrifically tasteful; feels like home but better. We stayed in 3 rooms. Our teenage daughter was tucked away in the Cabana room and loved it. We started in the Master Bedroom with the wonderful porch, but it was booked for our 3rd night so we moved upstairs to the Birdcage Room. And while we missed the porch, the Birdcage room's breeze, view, and decor was just as wonderful. The Breakfasts were divine, as was wine and cheese on Saturday afternoon. And the location a perfect skip the the beach. While Ocean Grove is a quirky place, Mary Ellen and Eric made us feel at so at home and gave us the R&R we needed. And Katie, the lab, did her part to make us feel welcome. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and can't wait to go back.

FABULOUS PLACE TO STAY

Met our expectations in every way. Beautifully decorated, spotless, delicious breakfasts and exceptional innkeepers, accommodating and helpful. The location is perfect, away from the center of town but close to the beach and in walking distance to everyplace one wants to go to. Glad we found the Sea Spray Inn and look forward to going back next summer.

Sea Spray Inn is the best!!!

A friend and I stayed at the Sea Spray Inn for a few days last week. What a delightful experience!!! Mary Ellen and Eric are truly outstanding innkeepers. They make you feel right at home and treat you to fabulous breakfasts. They are always available to answer questions and recommend places to see and things to do. They even gave us free tickets to a fantastic concert!!! The rooms are beautifully decorated, filled with amenities, and extremely comfortable. Do not be tempted by any other B & B in Ocean Grove. This is the best one around.

Beautiful, charming, and cozy!

My husband and I went to the Sea Spray Inn for our first overnight away from our 18 month old and had the most wonderful time and wished we could've stayed longer! Mary Ellen and Eric were warm and welcoming immediately and their breakfast was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. Mary Ellen's coconut banana bread might be the best bread I've ever had, as did the refreshing watermelon mint salad and a fabulous scramble. We were in The Love Letter room, which was cozy, elegant, and so comfortable that we slept in later than we have since our kid was born! Gorgeous, clean big soaking tub, too. The beach bag and towels provided for us were so convenient for our beach trip -- we actually loved the beach bag so much, we ended up buying one! Mary Ellen's mother's art hangs on the walls and we were so smitten with it, we bought a piece too. We really had the most charmed stay and will recommend Sea Spray to everyone we know. We can't wait to plan our next visit!

Spectacular Inn, Gracious Hosts!

My husband and I were so looking forward to our little getaway to the beautiful Sea Spray Inn for 3 nights July 13-17. 2 days before our arrival, I ended up in the ER very sick with abdominal pain. I was discharged, sent me home with 2 different strong antibiotics and bed rest..I didn’t think I would be able to recover, but by Monday, feeling a better, we made our way to the beautiful Sea Spray Inn. Mary Ellen, Eric and Katie were the most gracious hosts and so sweet and accommodating . We basically just hung close to Inn the first night…We stayed in the birdcage room ( spectacular and immaculate) and I took a warm soak in the gorgeous claw foot tub…. but in the night i felt ill again and as beautiful as the place was, there is no place like home when you are feeling bad.. So we quietly packed our bags next morning at 6 am and left for home.. Very sad…The inn was all quiet with everyone still sleeping… I left Mary Ellen a quick note with the room key explaining my situation. And, what I want everyone to know is by the time we came home, there was a sweet email from Mary Ellen and she was refunding my next 2 nights…. How sweet and generous is that? It was totally unexpected! it clearly states in the policy that maybe, only if the room is rented out, would a refund be given… ( by the way, that is more generous than most places) I left, not feeling well, sad that we couldn’t get away to the beach this year, and knowing that the money was going to an empty room we couldn’t enjoy. I felt so bad for hubby … Well when I read that email, it brought tears to my eyes…. That was soooo sweet and generous and I wanted everyone that read reviews to know that! Please visit sea spray.. you will not be disappointed…God bless MaryEllen, Eric and

Prime Bed and Breakfast

I just returned from my second stay at Sea Spray Inn and experienced a wonderful, much-needed rest at this primer bed and breakfast. I so appreciated the hospitality of Mary Ellen and Eric. The stay at their inn again met all my expectations...quiet room with strong/hot shower, relaxing lobby with friendly people, delicious breakfasts, great amenities. Their dog Katie is very well-behaved and a joy to have around. I enjoyed the ocean view when it was raining and the very short walk to the boardwalk and beach when the weather was beautiful. This is THE place to stay when you go to Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Don't miss out on a fantastic experience at Sea Spray Inn!

Like being home

I have used this wonderful establishment before and my comfort level continues to be the best. Mary Ellen and Eric are like my own family. You are greeted like long lost family only if you just go there once a year. I was greeted at the door by Mary Ellen, have a cookie, stop and chat and then get registered. Delightfully warm inside

This sweet and inviting house beckons you to climb the large front steps and enter. The bright living room and dining area are beautifully decorated and very inviting as you are so graciously served your breakfast. Each breakfast is an artistic balanced meal. Choices are given for those who have dietary issues. Coffee is wonderful. Each bedroom is decorated in a unique way with a private bath. Another wonderful stay

My daughter and I have taken our annual girl's getaway trip to Ocean Grove and it was better than ever. We originally chose Sea Spray Inn randomly, but fell in love and come back every year, now. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Mary Ellen's cooking is incredible - this time she whipped up the most tasty frittata for breakfast and her baking is amazing. Mary Ellen and Eric are warm and friendly but not intrusive - the perfect hosts! The rooms were comfy and everything was high-end to pamper us - from the fluffy towels, to the complimentary toiletries. Every aspect of our visit was perfect - even the weather could not have been better! Thanks again for going out of your way to make our visit so memorable!!

Home away from home..

We began staying at the Sea Spray several years ago and to be honest we would never go anywhere else on the Jersey Shore! We had never been to a B&B as we thought we would be uncomfortable in this type of setting. Mary Ellen, Eric, and of course their well trained dog, Katie, made us feel like we were family just coming home for the weekend. Each room we have stayed in are beautful and very comfy. They both go out of the way to find out special things about each guest to connect with them as soon as they enter the door. They connect visitors to each other when they are there. A short walk to the beach and the closeness to restaurants and activities makes it even better. It is our home away from home!

Peaceful Paradise

A most enjoyable stay @ the Sea Spray Inn. Katie & Eric have both done so much to make our visit extraordinary. The delicious, home-made treats were so savory and served in such a lovely setting. In the morning and evening, we thoroughly enjoyed gazing at the stars on our terrace as well as the breathtaking sunrises & sunsets to the sounds of the ocean. Their attention to detail coupled with earnest hospitality have contributed greatly to our overall well being. Mary Ellen & Eric were always ready to accommodate our every need with a heart-felt smile. Katie, too, is a joy and comfort - always ready with a warm welcome home with a wagging tail an expectant belly rub, lol. We look forward to visiting again and have already shared our marvelous experience with friends & family. The perfect gift! Our prayer is that all the comfort, peace, and joy Eric & Mary Ellen so generously give to others returns to them abundantly. May God bless continue to bless all of their endeavors. :)

Absolutely awesome place. This was my first B&B experience and I can't wait to go back. Mary Ellen, Eric and Katie (the dog) were welcoming, respectful of guests privacy, and engaging. The Inn was SPOTLESS and I felt as comfortable here as I did in my own home. HIGHLY recommended.

Wonderful B&B in Ocean Grove!

We stayed at the Sea Spray Inn for 9 days while visiting family. Mary Ellen and Eric are exceptional innkeepers, and do make you feel right at home. The breakfasts are just phenomenal, the inn is spotless and beautifully decorated. Everyone was friendly and warm, and it was a terrific experience. Located with both an ocean and lake view, it's close to the center of town and all activities in Ocean Grove. Do yourself a favor and book a stay with Mary Ellen and Eric at the Sea Spray Inn...you will not be disappointed.

End of Summer R & R

This was our third stay at The Sea Spray Inn. It gets better each time we visit. Mary Ellen and Eric are such comfortable hosts you feel as if you are visiting friends. I love the "goodies" Mary Ellen bakes and leaves out for her guests to enjoy along with special chocolates. Breakfasts are always special and I like the fact that they keep bottled water available for guests to take. It comes in handy for a long walk on the boardwalk. The town of Ocean Grove is a lovely place to visit and they have some very nice little shops to poke around in. Thanks again Mary Ellen and Eric for a very relaxing stay. Carole and Jim

This was our fourth year choosing the Sea Spray Inn as our vacation destination. We will be back again next year too! The ambiance is wonderful. The hosts are like family now. The breakfasts are served with such flair. The porch is a destination in itself with a wonderful view of the ocean and lake. And, of course, the ocean is so lovely!

Perfect great escape!

This is our third visit to the Sea Spray Inn and it won't be our last. The comfort, the cleanliness, the friendliness, the location ( 4 houses from the ocean) and the breakfasts are all top notch. Mary Ellen and Eric are truly the most gracious hostess and host. Our room was so comfortable and there is a fabulous porch in the front to sit and relax, read, enjoy a gourmet breakfast and/or fall asleep staring at the ocean. We can't wait to return!

Memorable stay

My daughter and I like to take an end-of-summer getaway before school starts each year. After coming here last year, it has now become the tradition for us. The location is perfect. The inn and the town are charming. Mary Ellen and Eric are the perfect hosts. My daughter has dietary issues and Mary Ellen went out of her way to come up with a menu that would be both gluten free as well as corn free for her. We were incredibly grateful to her for this. She is an excellent cook and we could not have enjoyed our stay more. We are looking forward to coming back next year!

Our Fourth Year at The Seaspray Inn

My college friend, her sister, and I enjoyed our fourth annual summer reunion at The Sea Spray Inn this August. My friends, who live in New York and California, visited the New Jersey shore as children and love the chance to return. This trip is a wonderful chance for me to have a real seaside vacation even though I live in nearby Middletown. We all appreciate Mary Ellen and Eric's warm hospitality, their inviting and spotless inn, our pretty rooms (Rosebud and Toile, which has a view of the ocean), and the scrumptious breakfast on the porch with a view of the ocean. We recommend The Seaspray to anyone looking for a perfect stay in quiet and beautiful Ocean Grove any time of year.

A little piece of paradise

My daughter & I just returned to reality after another wonderful stay at the Sea Spray Inn, a little piece of paradise in Ocean Grove, N.J. After a warm welcome from Mary Ellen, Eric & their sweet black lab, Katie, we settled into the beautiful Master Bedroom. Its lovely decor is peaceful & relaxing, with a terrace that offers perfect views of both the ocean & the lake. The bed is so comfortable that only the anticipation of Mary Ellen's delicious breakfast could get me up in the morning. Attention to detail is evident at every turn, as you are pampered by the many warm touches that make you feel right at home. Cold drinks, sweet, homebaked snacks, reading materials & games are available at all times. The beach, charming town & attractions are all within walking distance. Since we weren't able to convince Mary Ellen to come home with us ( : we will greately look forward to our next visit to the charming Sea Spray Inn. Marie & Andrea Dimitriou

Can't Wait to Go Back

Mary Ellen and Eric are thoughtful, friendly hosts and are genuinely really nice people. Here's what else is great: -The flowers blooming in the garden -The decor -The baked goodies and breakfasts -The sound of the waves breaking (audible from the porch) -The chairs, towels, and umbrellas that you don't have to bring from home -Quick walk to Asbury bars and restaurants with the serenity of sleeping/beaching in Ocean Grove This place is a treasure and a place we will return to soon.

A Gem of a BnB, A Gem of A Town

My husband and I loved our stay here around July 4th Week. The Sea Spray Inn had: ~Great location and views. ~Wonderful foods and crumb cake. ~ Clean and cozy accommodations. ~ Great A/C ~Charming innkeepers and a sweet furry mascot! All this is Ocean Grove, NJ... a equally yummy, clean and charming "olde tyme towne." TIP: OG boasts the largest aggregation of Victorian era homes in the US. All of this, on the pristine New Jersey Shore. Wonderful. A Gem within a Gem.

Warm and Inviting

Mary Ellen and Eric are very gracious and welcoming hosts (and, of course, Katie too). We unanimously agreed The Sea Spray Inn is our "summer home" away from home. Relaxing atmosphere and superb breakfasts, including gluten free for those special needs, served on inviting lovely porch...shear heaven! Our first stay at The Sea Spray Inn, but definitely not the last...we look forward to returning many times. Thank you Mary Ellen and Eric. From The Ladies of Lafayette, (Lorraine, Karen and Helaine)

Perfection

Mary Ellen and Eric have thought of everything to make the Sea Spray a wonderful place to stay. Our room was beautiful and comfortable with a view of the ocean and the lake. We even had a little fridge, very luxurious bathrobes, beach towels, all the amenities. Breakfast was too delicious! Mary Ellen and Eric are so nice. Great location.

Truly Pampered

This was our first stay at the Sea Spray. The host and hostess are wonderful caring people. We were warmly welcomed and felt right at home. We stayed in the Love Letter room which was on the third floor. It was lovely and very clean. The food was delicious and we felt truly pampered to be served breakfast on the front porch. It just keeps getting better!

The Sea Spray never disappoints. Every time I arrive there is a new dish to try, a new appointment to the decor-always beautiful. The fact that the Inn is 1 block from the beach, has a 2nd floor balcony, killer AC, luxurious bathrobes and comfy beds makes the choice very easy for us. We feel very taken care of and very well-rested when we arrive home after our stay.

Even Better the Second Time Around!

This was our second trip to Sea Spray and, once again, we were overwhelmed by the hospitality and graciousness of Mary Ellen and Eric. Sea Spray is a beautiful place, with rooms and common areas that are clean and well-maintained, with a wonderful sense of warmth that is true to the spirit of the best Bed and Breakfast establishments. Also, every morning Mary Ellen provided us with culinary treats that made the beginning of our days very special. Sea Spray is the "real deal!"

Lots of love all Around!

My boyfriend and I stayed one night in the Love Letter room and another night in the Master Bedroom this past weekend. I love coming here! Mary Ellen, Eric and Katie, the dog, are like family and the breakfasts were terrific! Mary Ellen asked me if I had any dietary restrictions beforehand hand.. I had gluten free pancakes, feta cheese for my omelette and decaf coffee not to mention other lovely delectable goodies. The place looked even better since I was there last! The garden has new plantings, the patio is redone and it is even lighter and brighter than when I was there before. I also love, love love the Bee products for hair and skin. It is my FAVORITE BnB in Ocean Grove! Hope

Romantic Getaway for Birthdays and Anniversaries.

My wife received a one night stay at the Sea Spray Inn for her birthday from her cousins. We stayed in the Master Suite and had a wonderful time. The place is beautiful and the owners are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. We loved it so much that we booked our anniversary weekend for this fall.

Lovely Anniversary Stay

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Spary Inn for our 35th wedding anniversary. The innkeepers were friendly and nice. Having the wine and cheese social on Saturday evening was a nice touch--we enjoyed meeting other NJ folks who were on a getaway weekend too. We had dinner at the Tides Restaurant in Asbury Park--highly recommend it and told our innkeepers about it. The inn is located nicely near the beach and not far from downtown shops. Only wish they had beach bikes to borrow so we could explore the area in a better fashion--ride down to Belmar or through Asbury Park.(maybe offer one hour bike rides so many could use them in one day) Breakfast was good--the scones were delicious. Hope to return again...maybe in the spring.

Awesome B&B, will be back

We stayed at the Sea Spray instead of staying at the hotel booked for a hotel we attended. The owners were so nice and helpful around the clock (they even give you their cell in case you can't catch a cab back to the Inn) and very friendly without being overbearing. The room had an incredible view of both the ocean and the lake, was cozy without being cramped, and was beautifully kept up. The Sea Spray is within walking distance of everything. Breakfast was home cooked and all you can eat.

We have just spent two days at Ocean Grove and had the good luck to stay at the Sea Spray Inn. The host and hostess could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one. The quality of the rooms was first class and the breakfasts were great with splendid home cooking. If we are lucky to go back to Ocean Grove then this B & B will be at the top of our list.

Love it here!

From the moment we walked into the inn and smelled the fresh baked carrot cake, we knew we would love it here. Mary Ellen and Erik were extremely friendly and accommodating . The inn was beautiful, with a very charming Victorian feel. We were in the smallest room because we booked it late, but we did not spend too much time in the room. The breakfast was amazing, and there was afternoon tea and evening wine and cheese. The inn was 1 block from the beach and a few blocks from town. We have stayed in a few bed and breakfast, and this was definitely one of our favorite!

two night stay

My daughter and I had a lovely two night stay at this B&B. The Toile room, where we stayed, had a nice view of the ocean as well as the lake. The inn was clean, comfortable and very close to the beach. We had two delicous breakfasts out on the porch, and were served by the innkeepers, Eric and MaryEllen. Both innkeepers were pleasant and accomadating. I would definately stay at this inn again, and plan to recommend it to my sister who frequents Ocean Grove.

romantic, the 2nd time

Sometimes going to the same place 2 times in a row is not a good idea, but this could not be said of the Sea Spray Inn. Mary Ellen and Eric welcomed us back and even remembered who we are! The Inn is warm and friendly with the hint of something baking in the oven. The Lavender Room was clean, cool and comfortable with private bath and fluffy white towels. Each morning the innkeepers provided tasty breakfast with fresh coffee, fruit in season, Mary Ellen's signature crumb cake, an orange cake that was so light it almost melted in the mouth. Eggs baked with four cheeses, pesto and sun-dried tomatoes or large slabs of french toast with greek yogurt with raspberries and fresh strawberries were all delicious. Mary Ellen always has her cookie jar filled as well on the entry table. It is a quiet, romantic time with excellent views of the ocean. There are beautiful views of the lake as well which has a fountain situated across the street. The front porch is a place where you can sit and eat or just sit and enjoy the surroundings.

A Gem in Ocean Grove

The Sea Spray Inn was everything we could ask for! We stayed in the Lavender Room with was up one flight of stairs. We had a private bath and both the room and bathroom were extremely clean. Mary Ellen and Eric were so friendly and helpful. Their dog, Katie, was so calm and friendly as well. She greeted us with only a wagging tail! The food was amazing as well! Every morning my husband and I were served out of the covered porch (a location we chose, not assigned to us). First we were served homemade pastries, then fresh fruit followed by an egg soufflé the first morning and a brioche French toast with warm blueberries the next! I secretly hoped that Mary Ellen would have a cookbook or offer cooking lessons while I was there! The location to the beach was not even a block away with plenty of free parking on the street. The center of town is only a few short blocks as well where there are small shops on both sides of main street and plenty of places to eat...go the Nagel's if you get a chance! We look forward to going back to the Sea Spray Inn next year! We wish Mary Ellen and Eric much happiness and business throughout the year!

An unexpected surprise!!!!!!!

Everything about this inn was just wonderful. Our room was spacious and clean. It was called the Venetian Room. The innkeepers were gracious and friendly. Their hospitality was more than anyone could ask for. Even Katie, their dog was so lovable and playful. Breakfast was delicious. The food items were all homemade. Mary Ellen's crumb cake was to die for. We will definitely go back for a relaxing and peaceful visit.

A home away from home

I had the recent pleasure of staying at this beautiful bed & breakfast in Ocean Grove. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by Eric, who took the time to show me around the property before taking me to my room. I stay in the Toile Room & it was lovely & very cozy. After settling into my room, I met Mary Ellen and she answered any questions I had about the town. The location was great, adjacent to the beach & lake, and a few blocks from shops & restaurants on Main Ave. I had a great nights sleep & woke up to a lovely breakfast. The owners went above & beyond to make you feel as though this is your home away from home. I highly recommend & will be returning.

Best place to stay in Ocean Grove!

The Sea Spray is our favorite B&B in a town full of them. It is a beautiful 8 bedroom home owned and run by Mary Ellen and Eric Tellefsen-and their black lab mix Katie. Mary Ellen makes fantastic gourmet breakfasts served in a relaxed yet sophisticated European style. All rooms are luxuriously appointed and it's a five-minute walk to the beach and all local eateries. The best part is the second floor balcony-fantastic for nighttime stargazing.

The Sea Spray Inn

The Sea Spray Inn is by far the best Bed & Breakfast at the Jersey Shore. It is our favorite destination for a romantic getaway! The Inn itself is impeccable. The rooms are all so beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Innkeeper Maryellen makes the most delicious homemade breakfasts - to die for! We can't wait to go back again...each trip is so memorable.

Charm, Comfort, and Relaxation

I stayed at this charming Bed and Breakfast with my Fiancé for a relaxing getaway near the shore. When we arrived we were immediately welcomed by Eric and shown the house and informed of the amenities. We stayed in the Master Bedroom that had access to a private deck with a great view of the Ocean and Lake. The décor was outstanding and the Claw Foot Tub was a pleasure. The next morning we woke up to aromas of breakfast which drew us downstairs. We had the best Crumb Cake I have ever had with coffee and juice. Next came the egg soufflé which was out of this world. They also serve fresh fruit at breakfast. Everything is all natural and organic so you don’t often get the flavor of real home cooking. Mary Ellen is a wonderful culinary artist as well as a gracious hostess. Her blueberry pancakes were excellent and the Vegan Orange Cake is to die for. Wine and cheese was served on Saturday at 5:30 and we got to know our hosts better as well as the other guests. I felt like I was visiting with family. You are made most welcome there and you know it is genuine. Mary Ellen and Eric have a wonderful place and know the area extensively if you want something to do or a recommended place to have dinner. I travel often and have found that there is not a more comfortable and enjoyable environment The Sea Spray Inn. We highly recommend it. Bruce A. Brecht and Mary Gamble

Lovely, charming, friendly

My husband and I enjoyed our one night at the Sea Spray Inn, we did not want to leave. This late-1800s home is beautifully appointed, and our room and bathroom were really well equipped and lovely. Even the bed was comfortable. Best of all, Mary Ellen and Eric are warm, outgoing innkeepers and Mary Ellen's baking is reason enough to return!

Romantic and charming

I can't think of a nicer place to stay. Mary Ellen and Eric are so welcoming, the Inn is close to the ocean with many lovely ocean views, and the food is delicious! Each room is unique and decorated beautifully, and the common areas are comfortable and gorgeous. We have stayed in three rooms so far, and I have liked each one. I can't wait to return!

Top grades for the SSI and OG

We loved the Sea Spray Inn, and MaryEllen's breakfasts are among the best that we've had in our decades of B&B visits. And Ocean Grove itself is a mighty fine place to visit. As for restaurants, Sea Grass and Starving Artist are super....Nagle's is mediocre. Susan & Richard Barnett

Fantastic hosts

On a holiday from Australia we made a last minute decision to go to a Southside Johnny concert at Asbury Park. We looked for accommodation and decided a B & B at Ocean Grove sounded much better than hotels at Asbury Park. How right we were! All the reviews were entirely accurate. The house has been lovingly looked after and it is fantastically situated. We were met by Mary Ellen who had just baked brownies. She and Eric sat down and shared them with a cup of coffee. They are incredibly hospitable and generous hosts. We had a pleasant stroll along the boardwalk to the concert that evening. Ocean Grove itself is absolutely delightful. The next day we enjoyed watching the Independence Day parade along Main Street - a real treat for us visitors. Our biggest regret was that our travel plans meant we could only leave New York for the single night. We could have happily stayed longer, enjoying the cooking, hospitality and location. The room was beautifully decorated and was probably one of our most comfortable night's sleeps in the US!

Perfection.

My mother and I recently spent a "Birthday"weekend @ "The Spray Inn". The expirienced was outstanding. Mary Ellen and Eric are warm, inviting, friendly, dedicated and specially sweet in making one feel, cared for and appreciated. The "Inn" is delicious, like Mary Ellen's food. It's an ideal place to rest, recover from the stress of the city, to enjoy, the Ocean, and feel better than home, since somebody is making sure you have absolutly everything you could possibly need. We've been in B&B's around the world, I can assure you, this is at the top of my list. The Best!!! Patricia K and Barbara Crean.

Weekend Getaway

my husband and i had just one night for a little getaway before our new grandson was due to arrive. we have stayed in many b & b inns during the last 25 years and this one was wonderful. we found the inn lovely and very clean, and MaryEllen and Eric are great hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed including beach towels and water bottles. The breakfast was fantastic; we didn't eat again until 3:00 in the afternoon! In addition, for animal lovers like us, there is a sweet, quiet dog named katie.

Wonderful B&B

This was our first vacation on the Jersey shore and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay. The Sea Spray Inn has everything vacationers would be looking for in a B&B, It is a charming, cheerful place that is run by warm, caring and lovely people. Our room was very comfortable and Mary Ellen served up some of the best breakfasts we have ever had in any B&B we have ever stayed at. She is truly a class act cook. We plan to return there, perhaps this fall. This B&B was a great find!!!! We highly recommend The Sea Spray Inn.

Best of all worlds & more!

Was desperate to find a clean, comfortable, vegan-accommodating, reasonably-priced,close to ocean lodging, for a quick 1 night stay enroute from Maryland to NY on a college-touring trip with my teenage daughter. I feared we would have to settle for a dreary roadside motel miles from the beach, when I stumbled upon this gem during a late-night google search. We couldn't have been more impressed with the acommodations and the owners. They, not only met our needs (down to the scrumptious vegan pancakes & muffins), they well exceeded them. Our only regret - we couldn't stay longer! Hopefully another time! SL - Boulder,CO

Great Inn by the Sea

This is our third time staying at the Sea Spray and we have already booked our 4th! Mary Ellen and Eric make the stay so enjoyable and comfortable- from the lovely breakfasts, great conversation, and fantastic rooms to the short walk up the block to the beach. It is all one could ask for.

Great Getaway

My husband and I stayed at The Sea Spray Inn for a long weekend at the suggestion of a friend. We owe her a huge thank you. The Inn is lovely and perfectly located close to the beach, great restaurants, and stores. We parked our car and left it there until it was time to leave. Everything was provided... beach bag & towels, blow dryer, terry robe... even chocolates before bed. We brought our own beach chairs and umbrella but needn't have because even those were available. Our room had a wonderful claw foot tub for luxuriating after a long day at the beach (with designer gels, shampoos, lotions, etc.) AND a great stall shower. Mary Ellen and Eric couldn't have been more gracious. They were warm and accessible without being intrusive. My only complaint is I'll have to double up on exercise this week to work off those amazing gourmet breakfasts! We definitely plan to return.

They invited us into their home...

Mary Ellen and Eric (and Katie) did their best to make our weekend here feel more like them inviting us into their home, not innkeepers welcoming us to their hotel. The rooms are well kept and comfortable and the porches showcase the town and the beaches. The breakfasts were well done and they even accommodated my wife's gluten free requirements. We cannot wait to visit again!

Right By the Ocean

This was a lovely way to spend a vacation. Sea Spray is a half block from the ocean. Had long walks on the boardwalk every morning before one of Mary Ellen's scrumptious breakfasts. Mary Ellen and Eric are very welcoming and of course Lady Katie, their dog, made me feel like she was my dog too! I stayed almost a week and added one more day to extend the rejuvenating experience.

A Hidden Treasure

The Sea Spray Inn is a hidden treasure among the plethora of B&Bs which populate the Jersey Shore... We were enchanted from the moment we arrived. It has grace, charm, and refinement. Relaxation begins upon arrival with Innkeepers Mary Ellen and Eric's warm greeting. Their genuine concern for their guests' comfort and enjoyment is impressive. The master suite is beautifully appointed with so many amenities - and it is immaculately clean. Lots of attention to detail. Mary Ellen's homemade breakfasts are the ultimate indulgence, the food is superb and the service exceptional - the best way to start a day! Our first stay was clearly memorable, and we look forward to many more in the future. --Michele Cambria & Jim Gilmartin

Quiet and Romantic

We stayed in the Venetian Room with a double large shower and it was very romantic. The bed was comfortable, it was very quiet and central air was a plus. We had views of the ocean and one flight down to the balcony we further enjoyed these views along with the lake views. We thoroughly enjoyed the innkeepers' breakfasts with homemade signature crumb cake. The delicious coffee was available at an earlier time for those early risers. The innkeepers were very friendly making us feel welcome and at home. Cleanliness was apparent as well.

One of a Kind!

The Sea Spray and it's hosts Mary Ellen and Eric provide the finest B&B experience you could hope to have. The Inn is lovely and comfortable. The breakfasts are made to order and Mary Ellen creates the baked goods and homemade breakfasts from scratch each morning. The food and its service are truly outstanding. The Inn has its own coffee blend which is delicious. We have been several times and will continue to visit the Sea Spray. I encourage you to do the same!

Wonderful

What a beautiful Inn owned by the nicest people! Our room was large, with a huge private bathroom. It was decorated with an oriental theme (the birdcage room), and the bed was so comfortable! The Lindt chocolate truffles on the pillows at night were most welcome, and the Inn is quiet for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was quite an event with unusual and delicious dishes. Mary Ellen is a fabulous cook, and she makes everything from scratch! I loved the coconut banana bread and orange infused French toast. There is a very friendly resident dog, Katy. I loved The Sea Spray Inn!

Our Home away from Home

The Sea Spray Inn is a treasure in Ocean Grove, NJ. The inn has large rooms which are immaculate and warming. Each room is themed, with comfortable beds, and its own private bathroom. The food is outstanding! The breakfast items and snacks are cooked from scratch. The innkeepers welcome you with open arms and they do all that they can to make you feel at home. On top of all of this, you can see the ocean and enjoy the beauty of a lake. One will not be disappointed by choosing this inn.

Mary Ellen and Eric are warm and friendly and serve a terrific breakfast! We were there for 7 days and didn't have the same breakfast once. We were in 2 different rooms, each one was different but extremely comfortable with nice views. Its an easy walk down to the beach and we had a nice time walking about this small town. Its definitely a different view of the "jersey Shore" and you will feel relaxed after your stay.

Beautiful Place

This is my second time at the "Sea Spray Inn" and I must say I was so happy to be back in this wonderful Inn. It felt good to be pampered and taking care of. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast is just delicious and home made. At night you have the great surprise to find a chocolate on your fluffy pillows. The rooms have been cleaned to perfection. The Inn is in a perfect location (2mn from the beach). Umbrellas, towels and chairs are provided by the Inn. You just have to come and rest! Thanks again for making me feel so good. Sophie

We would love to return!

We searched for a reasonably-priced inn that was in or around Ocean Grove, NJ and close to the beach. The Sea Spray Inn did not disappoint. Mary Ellen and Eric were very gracious and friendly hosts--able to offer helpful tips for touring and eating out in the area. We enjoyed a wonderful full breakfast each morning that we could eat indoors or on the front porch that looks out to Fletcher Lake across the street or to the ocean only about a block away. Though our room was the only European-style bedroom in the inn with the sink in the bedroom and the shower and commode separate, all were private and within our bedroom. Another helpful service for beach-goers were the beach bags, plush towels, beach chairs and umbrellas available for guests. The innkeepers also have beach passes that can be purchased for half the cost of buying them on the boardwalk. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return!

The Sea Spray Inn is a happy place

The Sea Spray Inn is a happy place where everything is lovely, from the proprietors down to the tablecloths and tea cups. The rooms are very nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable with crisp cotton sheets and downy pillows. In the bathrooms you will find beautiful towels and toiletries. Mary Ellen and Eric pay a lot of attention to all the details and breakfast is the best. The blueberry pancakes were inspired, and inspired a second helping!

Very relaxing place to visit!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Sea Spray and enjoyed every minute of it. Our room - the Lavender Room - was comfortable and featured a great bath tub and shower. The Innkeepers were very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were delicious - freshly baked cakes and muffins! Easy access to the beach and the boardwalk and lots of great places to walk or bike to. Sitting on the porch was so lovely with cool ocean breezes and views of beautiful gardens it was really hard to get up and leave!

A Special Place

Our third visit to The Sea Spray Inn was even more enjoyable than our previous visits it that's at all possible. Mary Ellen and Eric are fabulous hosts who make everyone feel at home in their lovely inn. Each room is beautifully decorated and filled with many amenities. The upper and lower porches are wonderful places to rest, read, or just to view the ocean and lake. Mary Ellen is a marvelous cook, creating delicious breakfast items to satisfy your palate. The scrumptious scones, muffins, and crumb cakes are heavenly. A truly special place to relax and enjoy the ocean and the quaint town of Ocean Grove.
