Lovely, charming, friendly

My husband and I enjoyed our one night at the Sea Spray Inn, we did not want to leave. This late-1800s home is beautifully appointed, and our room and bathroom were really well equipped and lovely. Even the bed was comfortable. Best of all, Mary Ellen and Eric are warm, outgoing innkeepers and Mary Ellen's baking is reason enough to return!

The Sea Spray Inn

I would highly recommend staying at this Inn. The innkeepers Mary Ellen and Eric are fabulous people, so warm and giving. The B & B is spotless and right near the ocean and her cooking is out of this world. Loved it!

Romantic and charming

I can't think of a nicer place to stay. Mary Ellen and Eric are so welcoming, the Inn is close to the ocean with many lovely ocean views, and the food is delicious! Each room is unique and decorated beautifully, and the common areas are comfortable and gorgeous. We have stayed in three rooms so far, and I have liked each one. I can't wait to return!

Top grades for the SSI and OG

We loved the Sea Spray Inn, and MaryEllen's breakfasts are among the best that we've had in our decades of B&B visits. And Ocean Grove itself is a mighty fine place to visit. As for restaurants, Sea Grass and Starving Artist are super....Nagle's is mediocre. Susan & Richard Barnett

Fantastic hosts

On a holiday from Australia we made a last minute decision to go to a Southside Johnny concert at Asbury Park. We looked for accommodation and decided a B & B at Ocean Grove sounded much better than hotels at Asbury Park. How right we were! All the reviews were entirely accurate. The house has been lovingly looked after and it is fantastically situated. We were met by Mary Ellen who had just baked brownies. She and Eric sat down and shared them with a cup of coffee. They are incredibly hospitable and generous hosts. We had a pleasant stroll along the boardwalk to the concert that evening. Ocean Grove itself is absolutely delightful. The next day we enjoyed watching the Independence Day parade along Main Street - a real treat for us visitors. Our biggest regret was that our travel plans meant we could only leave New York for the single night. We could have happily stayed longer, enjoying the cooking, hospitality and location. The room was beautifully decorated and was probably one of our most comfortable night's sleeps in the US!

Perfection.

My mother and I recently spent a "Birthday"weekend @ "The Spray Inn". The expirienced was outstanding. Mary Ellen and Eric are warm, inviting, friendly, dedicated and specially sweet in making one feel, cared for and appreciated. The "Inn" is delicious, like Mary Ellen's food. It's an ideal place to rest, recover from the stress of the city, to enjoy, the Ocean, and feel better than home, since somebody is making sure you have absolutly everything you could possibly need. We've been in B&B's around the world, I can assure you, this is at the top of my list. The Best!!! Patricia K and Barbara Crean.

Weekend Getaway

my husband and i had just one night for a little getaway before our new grandson was due to arrive. we have stayed in many b & b inns during the last 25 years and this one was wonderful. we found the inn lovely and very clean, and MaryEllen and Eric are great hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed including beach towels and water bottles. The breakfast was fantastic; we didn't eat again until 3:00 in the afternoon! In addition, for animal lovers like us, there is a sweet, quiet dog named katie.

Wonderful B&B

This was our first vacation on the Jersey shore and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay. The Sea Spray Inn has everything vacationers would be looking for in a B&B, It is a charming, cheerful place that is run by warm, caring and lovely people. Our room was very comfortable and Mary Ellen served up some of the best breakfasts we have ever had in any B&B we have ever stayed at. She is truly a class act cook. We plan to return there, perhaps this fall. This B&B was a great find!!!! We highly recommend The Sea Spray Inn.

Best of all worlds & more!

Was desperate to find a clean, comfortable, vegan-accommodating, reasonably-priced,close to ocean lodging, for a quick 1 night stay enroute from Maryland to NY on a college-touring trip with my teenage daughter. I feared we would have to settle for a dreary roadside motel miles from the beach, when I stumbled upon this gem during a late-night google search. We couldn't have been more impressed with the acommodations and the owners. They, not only met our needs (down to the scrumptious vegan pancakes & muffins), they well exceeded them. Our only regret - we couldn't stay longer! Hopefully another time! SL - Boulder,CO

Great Inn by the Sea

This is our third time staying at the Sea Spray and we have already booked our 4th! Mary Ellen and Eric make the stay so enjoyable and comfortable- from the lovely breakfasts, great conversation, and fantastic rooms to the short walk up the block to the beach. It is all one could ask for.

Great Getaway

My husband and I stayed at The Sea Spray Inn for a long weekend at the suggestion of a friend. We owe her a huge thank you. The Inn is lovely and perfectly located close to the beach, great restaurants, and stores. We parked our car and left it there until it was time to leave. Everything was provided... beach bag & towels, blow dryer, terry robe... even chocolates before bed. We brought our own beach chairs and umbrella but needn't have because even those were available. Our room had a wonderful claw foot tub for luxuriating after a long day at the beach (with designer gels, shampoos, lotions, etc.) AND a great stall shower. Mary Ellen and Eric couldn't have been more gracious. They were warm and accessible without being intrusive. My only complaint is I'll have to double up on exercise this week to work off those amazing gourmet breakfasts! We definitely plan to return.

They invited us into their home...

Mary Ellen and Eric (and Katie) did their best to make our weekend here feel more like them inviting us into their home, not innkeepers welcoming us to their hotel. The rooms are well kept and comfortable and the porches showcase the town and the beaches. The breakfasts were well done and they even accommodated my wife's gluten free requirements. We cannot wait to visit again!

Right By the Ocean

This was a lovely way to spend a vacation. Sea Spray is a half block from the ocean. Had long walks on the boardwalk every morning before one of Mary Ellen's scrumptious breakfasts. Mary Ellen and Eric are very welcoming and of course Lady Katie, their dog, made me feel like she was my dog too! I stayed almost a week and added one more day to extend the rejuvenating experience.

A Hidden Treasure

The Sea Spray Inn is a hidden treasure among the plethora of B&Bs which populate the Jersey Shore... We were enchanted from the moment we arrived. It has grace, charm, and refinement. Relaxation begins upon arrival with Innkeepers Mary Ellen and Eric's warm greeting. Their genuine concern for their guests' comfort and enjoyment is impressive. The master suite is beautifully appointed with so many amenities - and it is immaculately clean. Lots of attention to detail. Mary Ellen's homemade breakfasts are the ultimate indulgence, the food is superb and the service exceptional - the best way to start a day! Our first stay was clearly memorable, and we look forward to many more in the future. --Michele Cambria & Jim Gilmartin

Quiet and Romantic

We stayed in the Venetian Room with a double large shower and it was very romantic. The bed was comfortable, it was very quiet and central air was a plus. We had views of the ocean and one flight down to the balcony we further enjoyed these views along with the lake views. We thoroughly enjoyed the innkeepers' breakfasts with homemade signature crumb cake. The delicious coffee was available at an earlier time for those early risers. The innkeepers were very friendly making us feel welcome and at home. Cleanliness was apparent as well.

One of a Kind!

The Sea Spray and it's hosts Mary Ellen and Eric provide the finest B&B experience you could hope to have. The Inn is lovely and comfortable. The breakfasts are made to order and Mary Ellen creates the baked goods and homemade breakfasts from scratch each morning. The food and its service are truly outstanding. The Inn has its own coffee blend which is delicious. We have been several times and will continue to visit the Sea Spray. I encourage you to do the same!

wonderful inn

the sea spray is by far the nicest inn in Ocean Grove. The rooms are wonderful, the hosts are wonderful and Katy the dog is great. Also I love the fact that there is a TV in each room with cable, which there arent in many of the other inns. I plan on visiting there many more times this year. Teresa Linton

Wonderful

What a beautiful Inn owned by the nicest people! Our room was large, with a huge private bathroom. It was decorated with an oriental theme (the birdcage room), and the bed was so comfortable! The Lindt chocolate truffles on the pillows at night were most welcome, and the Inn is quiet for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was quite an event with unusual and delicious dishes. Mary Ellen is a fabulous cook, and she makes everything from scratch! I loved the coconut banana bread and orange infused French toast. There is a very friendly resident dog, Katy. I loved The Sea Spray Inn!

Our Home away from Home

The Sea Spray Inn is a treasure in Ocean Grove, NJ. The inn has large rooms which are immaculate and warming. Each room is themed, with comfortable beds, and its own private bathroom. The food is outstanding! The breakfast items and snacks are cooked from scratch. The innkeepers welcome you with open arms and they do all that they can to make you feel at home. On top of all of this, you can see the ocean and enjoy the beauty of a lake. One will not be disappointed by choosing this inn.

Can't wait to return!

Mary Ellen and Eric are warm and friendly and serve a terrific breakfast! We were there for 7 days and didn't have the same breakfast once. We were in 2 different rooms, each one was different but extremely comfortable with nice views. Its an easy walk down to the beach and we had a nice time walking about this small town. Its definitely a different view of the "jersey Shore" and you will feel relaxed after your stay.

Beautiful Place

This is my second time at the "Sea Spray Inn" and I must say I was so happy to be back in this wonderful Inn. It felt good to be pampered and taking care of. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast is just delicious and home made. At night you have the great surprise to find a chocolate on your fluffy pillows. The rooms have been cleaned to perfection. The Inn is in a perfect location (2mn from the beach). Umbrellas, towels and chairs are provided by the Inn. You just have to come and rest! Thanks again for making me feel so good. Sophie

We would love to return!

We searched for a reasonably-priced inn that was in or around Ocean Grove, NJ and close to the beach. The Sea Spray Inn did not disappoint. Mary Ellen and Eric were very gracious and friendly hosts--able to offer helpful tips for touring and eating out in the area. We enjoyed a wonderful full breakfast each morning that we could eat indoors or on the front porch that looks out to Fletcher Lake across the street or to the ocean only about a block away. Though our room was the only European-style bedroom in the inn with the sink in the bedroom and the shower and commode separate, all were private and within our bedroom. Another helpful service for beach-goers were the beach bags, plush towels, beach chairs and umbrellas available for guests. The innkeepers also have beach passes that can be purchased for half the cost of buying them on the boardwalk. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return!

The Sea Spray Inn is a happy place

The Sea Spray Inn is a happy place where everything is lovely, from the proprietors down to the tablecloths and tea cups. The rooms are very nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable with crisp cotton sheets and downy pillows. In the bathrooms you will find beautiful towels and toiletries. Mary Ellen and Eric pay a lot of attention to all the details and breakfast is the best. The blueberry pancakes were inspired, and inspired a second helping!

Very relaxing place to visit!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Sea Spray and enjoyed every minute of it. Our room - the Lavender Room - was comfortable and featured a great bath tub and shower. The Innkeepers were very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were delicious - freshly baked cakes and muffins! Easy access to the beach and the boardwalk and lots of great places to walk or bike to. Sitting on the porch was so lovely with cool ocean breezes and views of beautiful gardens it was really hard to get up and leave!

We loved our time at The Sea Spray -- great food, clean accomodations, and the friendliest, sweetest innkeepers. The innkeepers really went out of their way to meet any of our needs during our stay for our daughter's beach wedding, and we will definitely be returning!

A Special Place

Our third visit to The Sea Spray Inn was even more enjoyable than our previous visits it that's at all possible. Mary Ellen and Eric are fabulous hosts who make everyone feel at home in their lovely inn. Each room is beautifully decorated and filled with many amenities. The upper and lower porches are wonderful places to rest, read, or just to view the ocean and lake. Mary Ellen is a marvelous cook, creating delicious breakfast items to satisfy your palate. The scrumptious scones, muffins, and crumb cakes are heavenly. A truly special place to relax and enjoy the ocean and the quaint town of Ocean Grove.
