My wife and I accidentally happened upon this amazing B&B. We had been looking for a room in the Ann Arbor area and everything was booked. Right before I called the Queen's Residence they had a cancellation. We had not heard anything about it before so we were a bit leery of what we would encounter. What a beautiful surprise. Not only were the accommodations first class, the food was also. Throw in to the mix the owners Marla and Joe and the experience becomes a great one. We highly recommend the Queen's Residence. The name fits because it is Royal treatment.

Marla and Joe were exceptionally welcoming and hospitable and I only wish that we had more excuses to stay the night one town over from our own home! The historic decor is beautifully matched with the lovely building, the rooms are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, and breakfast was AMAZING. What a deal... I don't think I'll ever go back to hotels again!

Joe and Marla Queen have created a magical jewel in Ypsilanti that exemplifies a beauty, hospitality and originality which we had never encountered anywhere in our travels! From the exquisite comfort of our bed to the intricate attention to every possible desire that we might have as their guests, accommodating our need for a place to find a tranquil rest through creating an impeccable Victorian retreat with incredible service, Marla and Jo have elevated their profession as hosts to an art form unmatched! Their meticulous attention to the most minuet details, whether a lovely antique hat placed in just the right spot or a breakfast which would be the pride of any trained chef, left us feeling pampered in a way that coddled our souls. Our only regret is that we did not plan a longer stay… but next time we will!

Wonderful Stay

My husband and I stayed at the The Queen's Residence for 4 days and nights and had a wonderful time! Joe and Marla, the innkeepers, are absolutely wonderful and really made us feel comfortable and welcome. Our room was absolutely beautiful as was all of the home. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing! Marla is quite the chef. We had assorted fruit everyday, granola and yogurt, fresh baked muffins, and everything from eggs benedict to a decadent stuffed french toast. The garden frittata was probably one of the best frittatas we've ever had! I actually asked Marla for a few of her recipes. We can't wait to visit Michigan again just so that we can stay here :)

We marveled at the extraordinary level of detail that Marla and Joe have created to complete this stately Victorian mansion. They are warm-hearted folks who epitomize hospitality while bringing to their B & B a museum curator's touch. No extra effort was spared!

Bridal Shower

Last month I gave my daughter-in-law-to-be a bridal shower at the Queen's Residence. I could not have asked for a more perfect setting. We dined in the larger (of two) dining room that was easily able to seat the 13 of us. We then moved to the "Ladies Lounge" for gifts and socializing. Marla and Joe, our B&B hosts were gracious and very helpful. The shower guests could not get over how beautiful the setting was right down to the smallest details. I enjoy long parties and the 4 hour shower flowed seamlessly. Honestly I am trying to think of another occasion to have at the Queen's Residence.

After attending two weddings at this delightful venue, I must say it was fantastic to also toast in 2009 with the exceedingly warm and professional Queens! Every detail of their service - and home - was luxurious and delightful. Hearty meals, relaxed atmosphere, and an indulgence for the history buff... I highly recommend this venue for any romantic or intimate event... or "getaway"!

My fiance and I absolutely loved the Queen's Inn. We enjoyed the ambiance and thought it to be very romantic. Joe and Marla were gracious hosts and very welcoming. The Barnard Room was inviting and comforting. I liked the fact that the modern amenities were available, but hidden away. The hot tub was comforting after a long day. We will be telling all of our friends and family about our wonderful evening.

Although we were in Ypsilanti to visit family, The Queen's Residence B&B turned out to be a mini-romantic vacation for us. The hosts were terrific, the breakfasts great (one should be careful not to eat too much), and the room comfortable and cozy. We wish we had had time to use the hot tub -- maybe next time.

Romantic anniversary weekend

Besides the amazing attention to detail, the chocolates and cheesecakes, the use of the hot tub and the gentleman's parlor, the library and the fantastic breakfast, our favorite part for our 1st wedding anniversary was the candle lit dinner in the 18th century tavern downstairs, with the fire crackling in the fireplace while Joe and Marla served it to us. Absolutely amazing. There was not a thing that could have gone better or differently. But perhaps we are a little biased? After all, our wedding took place here a year ago. And it was so amazing to come back and say our vows again in the enchanted garden of this fantastic inn.

Wonderful weekend

Our weekend at the Queen’s Residence was wonderful! >From the breakfast cuisine, to the quiet peaceful elegance of the Bed and Breakfast itself; nothing could have been finer. If you have a hearty morning appetite, this is the place for you. We will not soon forget the Eggs Benedict, Spinach Quiche or Blueberry Muffins. We warmed ourselves by the fire in the downstairs parlor. Each evening we were welcomed into our room with soft relaxing chamber music. Scores of books and videos were in the library, adjacent to our bedroom suite. They were at our fingertips to enjoy in the privacy of our own Queen’s Room. Joe and Marla are the perfect hosts. They are good conversationalists with rich full lives. They have traveled extensively and obviously enjoy meeting new people. They provided us with information on tourist spots including places to dine and shop in Ypsilanti and surrounding areas. We learned much about the area as we chatted with locals about their history, enjoyed a reception at the Art Museum, toured the Firehouse Museum, and visited the Automotive Museum. Our hosts also provided us with information on places to dine and shop. We fell in love with the Sidetrack Bar and Grill. The atmosphere was pleasantly busy, the food was great, and it was quite affordable. Who says you have to travel hundreds of miles away to enjoy a much needed great escape. Whether going out on the town, or relaxing in the quiet seclusion of an elegant 19th Century home; this mini vacation fit the bill. We came away feeling pampered and replenished from a long winter, demanding schedules, and familiar routines of everyday life. We look forward to coming back again when we can visit nearby Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum or just simply relax.

I highly recommend the Queen's Residence B&B. Their Victorian home is filled with history and ambience. The Queen's are probably the NICEST couple we've ever met! Their attention to detail really showed how much they care! From the chocolate covered strawberries to the provided flip-flops for the hot tub to the amazing breakfast quiche, it was exquisite! We can't WAIT to return!

We visited the Queen's Residence as a weekend getaway. It was our first visit to a B&B. Any B&B that we visit in the future will have big shoes to fill! The Victorian atmosphere is very inviting. Attention to detail was impeccable: everything you need to enjoy the outside hot-tub, wine by the fireplace in the evening, complementary soft drinks and snacks, coffee brought to the library for you in the morning and fresh flowers in the room. You won't get a better breakfast at twice the price! The 1700's era tavern in the basement is itself worth the trip! Marla and Joe are great hosts!

We decided to come at the very last minute (10 p.m. the night before) but the service was impeccable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with tons of variety, muffins, quiche, breakfast meat, granola, fresh fruit, etc. The house itself was amazing, and it has a real 1700s tavern in the basement, brought from Connecticut plank by plank. The room was outstanding, with its own sitting room and bathroom, (other rooms had fireplaces 2 person showers and other neat additions) and the bedding was amazing -- super comfortable. Every time I went into a room I was surprised by another detail in decoration I had missed the first time. I can't say enough good things about this B&B -- you won't be disappointed.

My husband surprised me with a Valentine's stay at the regal Queen's Residence in Ypsilanti, MI, near historic Depot Town. The rooms were wonderfully romantic, filled with fresh flowers and beautiful antiques. The breakfasts were exquisite and decadent. Joe and Marla Queen, were the ultimate hosts, attending to our every need and want. The hot tub felt wonderful after a cold, snowy day. The 17th century pub, given to the former owners by Henry Ford, is situated under the main house. It truly is a sight to be seen. While you are at The Queen's Residence, you are treated like royalty. It was a GREAT experience.
