Circa 1884. In the National Register of Historic Places, Phipps Inn is an outstandingly beautiful example of delicate Queen Anne Victorian architecture. The mansion offers wraparound porches, fluted pilasters, gabled dormers and an octagonal tower that rises three stories high. Located on a historic street in Wisconsin's St. Croix Valley, an appropriate Victorian decor compliments the interior's oak and maple woodwork. Guest rooms and suites offer romantic furnishings and amenities such as brass, canopy or four-poster feather beds, and all feature large whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. There are a variety of rooms to wander into and enjoy, including the music room, billiards room and the inn's two parlors. Four-course breakfasts include a fresh fruit course, a pastry course, an entrée and a dessert. Antique shops, galleries, boutiques and a good selection of restaurants are nearby, as are parks and the St. Croix River. Octagon House, a museum in an 1855 house, is across the street from the inn.
