Charming small hotel

We were impressed with the hotel. Nicely decorated and inviting. Old Captain's Quarters was comfortable and relaxing. Unfortunately we had to share the bedroom and bathroom with nasty flies. The bathroom had a strong odor of decaying dead animal or sewage. We did not use the breakfast voucher because all of the suggested restaurants were not open which was disappointing. We were also surprised that we were the only guests staying there so we had the whole place to ourselves. The Old Carrabelle Hotel is a great place to stay if the negatives that we experienced are corrected.

Enjoyable place to stay

Best place to stay in Carrabelle Beach. Extensive renovations make it a really nice place. Rooms are lovely and comfortable. A parlor/living room was great for gathering rather than in someone's room. Skip was very generous assisting with extras needed for our stay. Everything is there that you will need. Highly recommend a stay here.

We love this place!

Kathy and Skip's little inn is our favorite place to stay on the Forgotten Coast. Forget boring lackluster chain hotels--going here is like going to your great-aunt's cute little house. I feel at home and so happy and relaxed every time I'm here. Quiet, peaceful, secluded, we would highly recommend this place to those who like a low-key experience. It's not close to the beaches we like to go to, but we'll stay here and drive out to the beach just because we like it so much.

One of my favorite destinations

I travel to Florida's "Forgotten Coast" at least once a year, and always stay at The Old Carrabelle Hotel. It's convenient to the beach and some terrific restaurants, as well as a great hub from which to visit St. George's Island, Apalachicola, and other area attractions. Carrabelle is a quiet community that's perfect for getting some R&R. The hotel is a beautiful, historic building, and Skip and Kathy's hospitality is matchless. All reasons why I keep coming back every chance I get.

Anniversary Retreat

We discovered Carrabelle and the Old Carrabelle Hotel during our honeymoon (while staying in nearby Apalachicola) and decided the rustic charm and old Florida "feel" were more to our liking. It has since become our regular anniversary destination! We LOVE the Inn and its surroundings. There are several great eateries nearby and lots to explore. We especially like the Hemmingway room. If you are looking for an Inn with genuine historical connections in a setting reminiscent of Florida 40-50 years ago, away from all the mainstream schmaltz, this is the place for you!

Just Plain Outstanding!

The Old Carrabelle Hotel is lacking a lot of things: noisy crowds, cramped rooms and surprise surcharges. Everything else, its got. The atmosphere is complete relaxation. The hotel veranda is a good place to catch up on that reading you've not been able to finish. There's lots to do also. The uncluttered beach is tailor made for beach combing or kayaking. Nearby Tate's Hell forest has walking trails for all levels of hikers. It is also difficult to find bad seafood in the area.

Cara Old Carrabelle hotel

a Cara -dear- B&B that was our first introduction (coming from the Netherlands) to the Forgotten Coast. A beautiful and welcoming old house, renovated by Skip, the rooms tastefully decorated by Kathy. Their hospitality was great. We liked the place and the people so much that we bought a house there and became good friends. Peter& Caroline

Key West of the North

As they say, location, location, location, this friendly B&B in the quaint fishing village of Carrabelle epitomizes Old Florida much like Key West. I stayed there to explore the off shore tarpon run in the spring and summer during the days as well as the unique eateries and bars at night, again, much like I do in Key West. Skip and Kathy are the consumate host and hostess!

The Carrabelle Hotel

I recently stayed at the Old Carrabelle Hotel. I have stayed here several times before; in fact I have stayed in every room in this small quaint hotel over the last few years. On all my visits it has been very neat and clean. It is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel. Each of the rooms are very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The beds are very comfortable and the showers work great.. Now if you are looking for a place that is very upscale this is probably not it. This is a very old hotel that was converted to a bed and breakfast several years ago by its owners; it is not a Ritz Carlton, but I find it very comfortable. I especially like sitting out on the balcony in the evening with a glass of wine, it is very relaxing. The breakfast you receive is not at the hotel, but at a couple of local restaurants in the area. The Hotel has a restaurant right next door, but it is only open for lunch and dinner. I have eaten there several times and found it to be quite good. Their raw oysters are always great. I would suggest you try it. The owners of the hotel have always been very helpful and accommodating. The only problem is recently they have been sold out on several of the occasions that I have wanted to stay there.

Cozy, Romantic and Charming

We have stayed at the Inn several times and love it. The veranda is the perfect place to be for a view of the water and an opportunity to see the boats passing, whether having your first cup of coffee in the morning or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening with your sweetheart. The Inn is convenient to the restaurants, bars and you can stroll down to the river and never have to drive your automobile.

Charming!

The Carrabelle Hotel owners & staff could not have been more personable, helpful, kind, and full of enthusiastic recommendations of where to dine and shop -- true southern hospitality! The hotel entry way, registation bar, and sitting room are all very charming, and my room was comfortable, with a sailing/nautical theme. Because it was Christmas, the hotel uter deck railings were festooned with greenery and bright red velvet ribbons. I was in Florida attending a special family gathering, so I did not spend much time at the hotel, but when I was there, it gets high marks from me.

Best in Carrabelle

My husband and I traveled to Carrabelle along with another couple... and the Old Carrabelle Hotel was the perfect place to stay. It was affordable, clean, well air-conditioned (it was August), and very cozy. The inn-keepers were available for any questions we had, but stayed comfortably distant so we didn't feel hovered over. We got great recommendations for meals around town, and things to do day and night. If you're looking for a quiet getaway in an historic location, this is your answer.

High Point of our trip

Hi Skip, Shirley and I stayed with you in mid-August for 4 nights and in our leaving, forgot to write anything in your guest book about our stay. I just want to tell you that our time with you, and in Carrabelle was truly the highpoint of our trip. We have and will recommend your Hotel to anyone that is headed that way. I think my Son, Eric and his wife will visit you in the near future. Kathy, and you, do a great job for your guests. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of your Breakfast Voucher system, and particularly enjoyed the corner coffee shop and their “Awsome Bagel”. Feel free to share this note or have anyone call us. Thanks again, Best Regards, Keith & Shirley W. Aurora, Colorado
