Circa 1903. The Maples Inn, a Bar Harbor bed and breakfast on Mount Desert Island, Maine, welcomes visitors to enjoy classic tranquility and a taste of the simpler life. Relax on front porch rockers with afternoon refreshments, or snuggle in front of the fire in the winter. Select a two-room guest suite with fireplace and canopy bed or one of the rooms that features an antique wood, four-poster, cast-iron or brass bed and wicker-filled sitting area. The Red Oak Room boasts a private treehouse deck. Start each day with a hearty gourmet breakfast in the sunny dining room then explore nearby Acadia National Park with more than 120 miles of hiking trails and gorgeous coastal views.
