The cacti are in bloom and this Fort Myers inn, newly refurbished in 2013, is ready for guests looking for a laid back getaway. Full of history, the bed and breakfast, originally located in Slater, was split in two and transported to its current location in the 1940s. In keeping with the warm climate the exterior of the inn is now a bright Morning Sun color and the light streaming through the windows give rooms an airy character. The Palm room is a blend of old and new with original wood floors and a spa shower. Stained glass windows adorn the private bathrooms in the Bougainvillea and Orchid rooms. Two more luxurious guest rooms will open in Fall of 2013. Sleep soundly on 1500 thread count sheets and awaken to a gourmet breakfast. Add to your healthy vacation glow with the moisturizing properties of the Gilchrist and Soames’ Spa Collection. Walk to restaurants, Centennial Park, and the Caloosahatchee River.

Historic Interest

Home built in 1923 by the owner of a sawmill located in Slater, Florida. Henry Ford was interested in the operations and would visit the owner in Slater. In the 1940's, the house was cut in half, transported to the Caloosahatchee River, put on tow barges, brought downriver, transported to McGregor Avenue and put back together at its current location.

Historic sites nearby:

Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates, Laboratory and Museum are less than one-half mile south on McGregor. Historical downtown Fort Myers is approximately one-half mile north.

This was our first trip to Ft Myers & the wonderful accommodations at the Hibiscus House, the gracious treatment by Pam & David made it a very special time to remember. Our room was exceptional & the breakfast was gourmet quality. We are looking forward to our next visit.
