“A great choice”
Orit TWe spent a beautiful Fall weekend at the Garden & Sea B&B Inn and enjoyed every moment. The owners are lovely - very welcoming and service oriented. We came with two small children and we know that not every B&B accept that - here we felt very comfortable. A lot of thought was given to the small details and it definitely makes you feel that someone wants you to enjoy your stay to the max. The breakfast was delicious! Although the place is located in a residential area, it was very easy and quick to get from there to the nearby Assateague attractions. A great place we would love to come back to!

“Great Inn, Great Experience!”
Erin PMy husband and I stayed at the Inn over Columbus weekend. We were completely impressed with our room (Champagne) and the staff. Doro and Thomas were great! They offered us advice on local attractions and were more than welcoming. The breakfasts were exceptional. We were treated to several German dishes as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, breads and cereals every morning. I had read great reviews but was still skeptical. I didn't believe a B&B could actually receive such a high rating from so many visitors but, after staying there for four days I didn't want to leave. Five stars seems insufficient for such an outstanding experience! We will definitely be back!
P.S. The Inn was a quick 15 minute drive to Chincoteague and all the touristy things. It is in a perfect location to avoid more expensive waterfront lodging while still being close enough to partake in all the activities. Excellent location!

“Hurricane Irene and the Inn”
Martin SClifton, VA
We went to the Garden and Sea Inn, located on the Eastern Shore in Virginia, near Chincoteague. Everyone was leaving and we were still going to go to the beach. It rained alot, more than we expected, but the Innkeepers, Dorothee and Thomas, made our stay very good. They provided dinner, when there was no place to go and had a generator to give us some power, when we lost power for a few hours. Though the weather didn't hold up, the Inn was a great place to go and just relax. That's exactly what we did.

“The Garden & Sea Inn: Top-Notch”
Michael GGaithersburg, MD
As usual, my sister and I had a very pleasurable time staying at this most comfortable bed and breakfast. We relaxed by swimming at the refreshing pool and truly enjoyed the European breakfasts the innkeepers provided, not to mention the fine camaraderie we shared with them. The accommodations were excellent as the bathroom was always clean; the bedding always made perfectly. We appreciate the Renns' friendship and hospitality and would like to return again next summer, perhaps with a canine addition.

“and your dog will love it too!”
John D. WThis is a lovely Victorian type inn just about 10-15 minutes away (a truly easy drive) from Chicoteague and Assateague Island. We found this on-line by searching for pet-friendly hotels/inns on line. We didn't end up bringing our dog, but he would have loved it - nice fenced in area to play while we enjoyed the pool, nice green, grassy area to play fetch at the back of the property, a good residential-type block to walk him. If you don't like pets, don't hesitate to stay here -- it is a perfectly nice place with inviting guest rooms, pretty common areas, wonderful breakfasts, and friendly inkeeper couple.

Mark CMy wife and I stayed the weekend at the Inn for our 22nd anniversary. It was my wife's first B&B experience. Thomas and Dorothee set the bar high for future B&B experiences to come. They paid special attention to our needs and were a delightful hosts. The accomodations were well kept, comfortable, and serene. We will go back again.

“New favorite B&B on Eastern Shore!”
Kelly AThis was our first visit to Chincoteague Island, and this inn now first on my list. The facilities are absolutely gorgeous, wonderful gardens and beautifully designed, comfortable interiors. The innkeepers are adorable, and very knowledgeable about the local area, particularly restaurants and beaches that are dog friendly. We took their dining and schedule recommendations, and both were excellent. Though some mornings we just wanted to stay in, read on the porch and enjoy the scenery. They have several common rooms stocked with complimentary port wine and snacks. Go to breakfast hungry, and be ready for a small nap afterwards - the meals were delicious, though a little heavy, and I found it hard to stop eating. The house is about 30 min from Chincoteague, and after seeing the accommodations available on the island (smaller rooms, located on busy streets, and more expensive), it was the perfect find. Highly recommended!

“The Perfect Wedding Location!”
Susan R (2 reviews)
Webster, NY
Thomas and Doro Renn will forever be my heros! They hosted the perfect wedding for us - about 30 guests - in April and we are still being reminded how perfect the weekend was each time we speak with one of our relatives! The Renn's attended to every detail no matter how small such as ensuring everyone had a wonderful breakfast, even bringing a basket of food to the rooms of people who wanted to sleep in. They painstakingly planned a delicious dinner reception of crabcakes and stuffed chicken breasts that was so tasteful that our guests called the staff to the dining room to give them a standing ovation! The rooms was beautiful, clean and oh so comfortable! The parlors was homey and yet eloquent. The Renn's have definitely found their calling in hospitality. By the end of the weekend, they meant so much more to us than our innkeepers, they felt like family! You simply can't put a pricetag on that!
This is the place you want to be at if you're planning a small wedding. In a word, amazing!

“Garden and Sea great stay”
William BOld Forge, NY
Garden and Sea is a property with more than one building allowing for different atmospheres in which to stay. The common areas are inviting and have cookies and beverages available. They are good for reading, writing, hanging out at the end of the day or working on the computer on free wireless. The property is welcoming as are the innkepeers Dorothee and Thomas. The breakfasts are very good.If in the area it is worth a visit.

“A Dog's Life”
David & Lucie DNew Church on Virginia’s Eastern shore. We chose this inn because it is pet friendly and we wanted to take our Newfoundland dog to the beach. Located on the property are two of the oldest homes in the county which, along with the grounds, create a very nice atmosphere that harkens back to the beginning of the 18th century. During the winter the rooms in the older house are not available, so we stayed in the modern Shiraz Suite which is very spacious and nicely appointed. The connected private dog area accessed through the bedroom is very convenient for pet owners.
We really like German food and the Renn’s did not disappoint. Each morning a nice breakfast was delivered to our suite. All of the breakfast entrees were new to us and we loved them all. The restaurant at the inn is not open during the winter so went to several local eateries that are listed in the inn’s guide book. All of the food was good and reasonably priced. As you would imagine, the seafood in the area is particularly good.
There is much to see in the area. Among the places we visited were Chincoteague Island and Cape Charles which is about an hour south.
We found our stay very relaxing and would definitely return.

We had a beautiful very large romantic suite called 'Shiraz' with a very comfortable king bed. Suite was very clean, very private, in a separate building from the main house. It had a fenced yard if you had a dog or pet! Breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed conversing with the host Tom!

My fiancee and I spent a long weekend at The Garden and Sea Inn and were so happily impressed. Everything was simply perfect - beautiful gardens, comfortable well-appointed rooms, great food, friendly hosts. The food was so good that we jumped at the chance when offered seconds! Be sure to eat dinner at the inn at least one night during your stay. We had the most wonderful crab cakes and fillet. The innkeepers are simply amazing - both Thomas and Doro are friendly, happy to help in any way, and are so knowledgeable about the area. They were able to send us for the "best" of what we asked about - sight-seeing, ice cream, seafood, bakeries, etc. They did their absolute best to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. We'll be going again within the next six months - we are so happy to have booked all nine rooms for our wedding! Need anymore be said?

“A true gem!”
Brittany S4/26/2009
My husband, daughter & I just had the most wonderful stay at The Garden & Sea Inn, 4188 Nelson Rd P.O. Box 275 New Church, Virginia 23415, www.gardenandseainn.com. The innkeepers,
Thomas & Doro are friendly & did everything possible to make us feel welcome, comfortable and well-cared for. They have renovated the buildings with tender, loving care. We stayed in the Chablis Suite, which was just beautiful, with the perfect set-up for us (bedroom) & our daughter (sleeper sofa, TV, refrigerator & coffee maker on the other side of the bathroom, which featured a spa bathtub). The breakfast was out of this world, way too much food, & they volunteered to pack up the baked goods for later in the day. When they noticed our daughter preferred the delicious sausage to anything else, they gave her a double helping the rest of our stay. when the weather turned rainy, they asked whether she liked puzzles, and left 3 in the room. The grounds are beautiful. What makes this place unique is that pets are also welcome, but everything is so well kept, that you would never know it was also pet-friendly. There are baskets for fresh & used beach towels for dogs on each building's porch; there are bags & a receptacle for dog waste. We brought our Brittany spaniel & had a great time. We took advantage of their Winter Special (tho it was April), & enjoyed 1 night free, 2 complimentary bottles of wine, coffee, biscotti, and a basket of dog treats in our suite; snacks & beverages were always well-supplied in the main building, near the fireplace. Stay here whether or not you have children and/or pets; you will feel totally pampered.
