Description

Circa 1731. Prepare for a remarkable journey back in time at this former 18th-century tavern. Original wide-board floors, fireplaces and raised paneled walls reflect that era. Romantic canopy beds and Jacuzzi tubs boast added comfort to the guest bedrooms. A secret closet may have harbored runaway slaves during the Underground Railroad. Spacious privacy is offered in the cottage. Conferences and small weddings are accommodated easily. Local universities, Caprilands Herb Farm and Nathan Hale Homestead all are nearby.

The Daniel Rust House

The Daniel Rust House is located in Coventry CT, which makes it the perfect locale when we visit our daughter at UCONN. We have stayed here twice (10/2008 and 04/2009) and highly recommend it. The house has a rich history dating back to 1731. The Innkeepers - Germaine and Cathy are thoughtful, caring and attentive to the needs of their guests. We stayed in both the Anna White Room and the Mary Rose Room. Go for the Anna White room and enjoy the beautiful private bath and two person whirlpool tub. The B & B has a rustic charm that feels very comfortable - why stay at a hotel? Breakfasts are excellent - forget about ever needing to eat lunch later. Cathy and Germaine are very knowledgeable about the area and will assist you in finding places to go visit or dine for dinner. Be sure to check out the specials and events listed on their website. The extra bonus is that this B & B is pet friendly. We are definitely going back again.

We were delighted then, to find such a jewel in the Bird-In-Hand.

Romantic and historic

The history behind the Daniel Rust House drew us to stay there, but the unparalleled hospitality shown by innkeepers Cathy and Germaine made the visit truly memorable. We felt like part of the family during our stay...a very pampered part of the family! Breakfasts were especially outstanding and plentiful. We can't say enough about these meals and how they were the perfect way to send us off on our adventures each day. They always included fruit, pastries and entrees like egg dishes or fruit-stuffed pancakes...and more than enough so you really didn't need to eat again until quite late in the day. I've posted a longer story about our stay at http://www.midwestguest.com/2008/09/daniel-rust-house-is-a-gem.html

Romantic and historic

The Daniel Rust House has a long and interesting history, making it a great place for history buffs to stay. But the idyllic grounds, spacious rooms and (most importantly) wonderful hosts make it perfect for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We loved Cathy and Germaine. They went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful week with them, and we really did feel like we were part of the family while we were there. Breakfasts are definitely a high point. Make sure you're hungry in the morning, and know that you may not need another meal the rest of the day! amazing!

Being that I was traveling from california alone, I could not have asked for a better place to stay! Cathy and Germaine made my stay very comfortable. Their grounds are beautiful, the house is full of history (Cathy and Germaine know every story) and the location is great. If anyone is looking for a relaxing trip, this is the place to go!!

Relax!

What a wonderful way to relax; in front of a fire or in the jacuzzi (Anna White Room) in an historic colonial inn with every attention to period decoration and personal comfort. Cathy and Germaine are friendly and generous hosts. Breakfasts are delicious and set up up for the day. It's a perfect getaway!

One of the Best I've ever been to

I have stayed at the Inn several times and have never been disappointed. The innkeepers, Cathy and Germaine go out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean. The inn is decorated beautifully, breakfast is delicious and plentiful and the grounds are just beautiful. The fireplace in the keeping room is always lit making it a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea before retiring for the evening. As I travel with my dog, it is so nice to know I can leave her during the day with Cathy and Germaine and not worry. I would highly recommend this inn for anyone traveling to the Coventry area.
