1814 Mansion built by wealthy shipbuilder Nathaniel Lord during the War of 1812. Noted housewright Thomas Eaton was the architect of the building. He was the architect of several historic buildings in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport.

“Number One Romantic in my humble opinion”

The Capt. Lord is in the Registry and is so very, very romantic. Beginning when you drive up the atmosphere lends to the romance. The rooms are tastefully appointed with period furniture, wall coverings and window treatments. Romantic CD's are available and flowers are in every room . We stay in the Oriental when we visit. The black and white tile bathroom floor is heated, the corner hot tub is perfect for two. The bed is fit for a king and queen. The friendly staff is always on hand. If they know it's a special occasion you might find a surprise waiting in your room. Morning breakfast is delicious and fresh coffee and cookies are available throughout the day. There is no such thing as a bad room in the mansion. I hope you have an opportunity to stay. It is clearly my #1 of romantic Inns.
