Historic Point Reyes Station is the gateway to the Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay. Point Reyes National Seashore offers over 70,000 acres of beaches, forests, trails, horseback riding, bird watching, majestic Tule Elk and unlimited spectacular scenery. It is the hub of West Marin County and is located only one hour from the Golden Gate Bridge and 45 minutes from Napa Valley. Though small in size, this town features a diverse and eclectic mixture of shops, restaurants, Saturday farmer's market, oysters and wine tasting near the inn. Luxury guest suites and rooms provide the utmost of upscale comfort and amenities. Tomales Bay is a mecca for small boats and sailboats, as well as a number of kayak touring companies.

Grand View

In the Grand View Suite you will enjoy a 270° panoramic view, two floors to spread out in, a cozy upstairs loft featuring a king size bed, and a three-sided glass enclosed tower lounge perched high above the landscape below.

Bay View

The Bay View guest room has a great view, private entrance, spacious deck, and is furnished with queen size bed, sitting area, private bath, robes and marble wet bars.

Innkeeper Note

We started in the B&B business in the spectacular Point Reyes, California area in 1982 with our Blackthorne Inn. The present Black Heron Inn was built by the builder of the Blackthorne Inn as his home. We are very fortunate to be adjacent to the Point Reyes National Seashore -- it is just over our fence. But when we bought the property this was not the case. A developer planned to build condos, a hotel, a golf course, a polo field and a waste treatment plant! Fortunately the federal government stepped in and bought the property and incorporated it into the Point Reyes National Seashore, ensuring that we will forever enjoy our spectacular views. Our Grandview Suite is in the top floor and, like all of our guest rooms, enjoys spectacular views of parkland, Tomales Bay, the Inverness Ridge and our wildlife pond. The spaces now occupied by our Bay View and Ridge View guest rooms were once the former owner’s workshop. We opened the walls to the views and created two very private rooms where you can enjoy panoramic views and nature at her finest!
