Innkeeper Note
The Alexander House Booklovers Bed and Breakfast announces a special 10% discounts for guests bringing bicycles to use around the area, or those arriving in a hybrid vehicle. "We wanted to reward those who are truly attempting to conserve gas, rather than giving an across-the-board gas discount to everyone, when we still see so many folks driving large SUV's at top speeds on their vacations." The discount runs through 2009. Last year, the inn became one of the maverick American inns to initiate a shoe-free policy, in line with the cultural mores of most of the world, and to keep their green and clean inn toxin/allergen free. The inn uses natural cleaning products and special uv lights to clean the air and mattresses. Innkeepers Elizabeth and Peter Alexander have created a whimsical, feel-good atmosphere, with bright colors, eclectic furnishings and an unpretentious look that allows visitors to feel at home and relax. This literary-themed inn opened in 2002, and has quickly gaining popularity with guests from every world continent, as well as guests from across the United States.

“Simply Marvelous”
Ashwini and ShankarWashington,
Alexander House is simply marvelous—all your thoughtful, creative little touches, the delicious food, the cozy reading room and the terrific dreamy
Langston Hughes Room is a 'Montage of a Dream Realized.' We relished the morning tea on the porch. Thanks for everything. We’ll be back.

“Gracious Hospitality”
Bob and Jan VernonThank you so much for your gracious hospitality. We've stayed in many B & B's, but never one that had the charm and aura of this one. We are amazed at
how well you've achieved the whole 'book lovers' ambiance. The Room is absolutely beautiful, the bed was wonderful, the food delicious, and our hostess
charming and thoughtful.
