Beautiful, clean, quiet, on site parking and walking distance to beach, stores and restaurants. We spent three nights in the Savannah room and loved the authentic decorations and ball and claw foot tub and copper fixtures in the bathroom. Thick plaster walls made it very quiet. No television in room (thank goodness) but Wi-Fi for my husband who had to do a little business on his laptop. Breakfasts were homemade daily and Jay was our Host. He was fun and entertaining and very knowledgeable about all Cape May has to offer. Just park your car (on site parking is a real plus in this town) and you can walk everywhere. While sitting on the porch for the afternoon "tea" watch the horse and buggy's go by giving tours and realize how lucky you are to be staying at The Abbey! Thanks Jay, we'll be back. Betty & Joe

steve isenbergI've read the the other reviews, if you don't enjoy your stay at the Abbey because of a little pealing paint you missed the point. This is an old inn with tons of Gothic charm and a lot of humor. The owner, Jay,and staff can not be beat. The breakfast and tea are great and should not be missed. True this B&B is not for snobs. Its run by people who care about you and your stay with them.

George CarfagnoIf you're looking for all the modern conveniences of a traditional hotel, keep looking. But if you enjoy stepping into the past, exploring the nooks and crannies of a stately mansion, and having breakfast and afternoon tea with one of the more memorable innkeepers in Cape May, the Abbey is for you.

richard thomasOur annual Spring fling to Cape May and the Abbey didn't disappoint. From the great location, period rooms, great breakfasts and tea time presided over by the quirky and hilarious innkeeper, Jay, we had a delightful experience. If you expect glamour and glitz, try somewhere else. But if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet seaside holiday, you couldn't do better.

THOMAS BERKMANWe stayed at The Abbey for 2 nights, and wished we had picked any other Bed and Breakfast in the city. The outside and inside of this once nice historic house had badly peeling paint and was devoid of proper upkeep. The view of the yead form our window was of an unkept yard, a pile of old wooudl, plastic pipes and and broken lawn table. Yummy! No flowers, lots of dust, torn fabric, and a bed and 2 chairs where you could feel the springs poking up. Honestly, the For Sale sign in the front yard said it all - the owners have given up on this place. We suggest you do too.

abbe joyVery Dissappointed...the home is very run down and not a place that I would tell anyone to stay...actually left early! Rooms had ant traps! I paid for room with bathtub but it had a shower with a tub that could not be used, the plumbing was not set up to use and owner didn't want to refund money! Asked for refund several times for difference in room rate of tub vs. shower, still waiting. Stay somewhere else! The southern mansion is wonderful!
