A Grand Inn-Sunset Hill House

This Second Empire luxury inn has views of five mountain ranges. Three parlors, all with cozy fireplaces, are favorite gathering spots. Afternoon tea is served here. The inn's lush grounds offer many opportunities for recreation or relaxing, and guests often enjoy special events here, such as the Fields of Lupine Festival. The Cannon Mountain Ski Area and Franconia Notch State Park are nearby, and there is 30 kilometers of cross-country ski trails at the inn. Be sure to inquire about golf and ski packages. In the fall, a Thanksgiving package allows guests to help decorate the inn for the holidays as well as enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together. NH Magazine just named Sunset Hill House -- A Grand Inn the "Very Best in NH for a Spectacular Meal."

Sugar Hill Inn

Set on 16 acres in the White Mountains, this rambling 1798 country colonial farmhouse is surrounded by gardens and rolling lawns. The inn has six Cottage rooms, four Classic rooms and five Luxury rooms, for a total of 15 guest rooms. Some have fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. Virgin pine flooring, hand-hewn beams and rippled glass windows speak of elegance of days gone by. Handmade quilts and pillows, stenciled walls and antiques create delightful period decor. Start the day with a three-course breakfast including courses like omelettes, blueberry pancakes or eggs Benedict. Then set out to see the countryside. The inn is near Dartmouth College, the Ariel Mountain Tramway and the Cog Railway as well as the New England Ski Museum and Robert Frost's Home. Outdoor activities include hiking, biking, ice skating, fishing, tennis and golf. Dinner, afternoon tea and picnic lunches are available upon request.
