Never Again!

The innkeeper (Kevin) did not honor a reservation I made for a free night. I made the reservation on Jan 31, 2009 for the nights of October 9th and 10th. This reservation was made by one of the owners staff who no longer works there. When we arrived we were not allowed to use the free night certificate because the owner said it was a holiday weekend. We made this reservation 9 months in advance with no mention that we could not stay until the day we stood at the desk. They billed my credit card on July 10th and still no mention we could not use the certificate as planned. After learning this and talking with Kevin I asked for a refund and was not going to stay. He would not allow a refund, but would "let me off the hook" for the next night. The owners write up in the book says you can use the certificate anytime. They allowed me to book these two nights and then turned me away when we arrived. I have never had a problem like this before and am very dissapointed in the way we were treated. Use caution if you book this B&B

Very Romantic

My Husband and I have stayed at the Sturbridge Country Inn twice. Both times we had a great time. We try do do this once per year in the winter as a romantic overnight. We love the Jacuzzi tubs.

Romantic Get-a-way

We have actually stayed at the Sturbridge Country Inn twice now. We stayed there the night of our wedding, May 20, 2006 & we stayed there March 4, 2008 as a romantic get-a-way. Room # 12 is a beautiful room with a large jacuzzi! Their nightly rate is extremely reasonable, especially for the size of the jacuzzi & a gas fireplace. The staff and service were excellent - very professional and courteous. I highly recommend Sturbridge Country Inn to anyone.

OMG! It looks abandoned!

Booked our reservation... Discovered that they are no longer accepting any Free Night Certificates despite the fact that we followed all the rules. Pulled into the parking lot, and there was NO ONE AT THE INN! Had to make a call, waited about 20 minutes before anyone showed up. Was offered a "free upgrade". What a joke. And they no longer give you a breakfast voucher to be used at a local restaurant for breakfast. The towels were gray - supposed to be white. A little bleach would work. The floor of the shower was also gray - Clorox bathroom cleaner and a bit of elbow grease might help. Cracked ceramic tiles around the whirlpool tub is an accident and lawsuit waiting to happen. And what's with the sign telling us that hot water is not unlimited? If you can't fill the whirlpool tub - why have it? Obviously, we were the only ones in the entire building. Not a phone anywhere - what if there was an emergency? Landlines are the most helpful in an emergency. The mattress on the daybed/couch by the tv was at best lumpy. The towel bar fell off the wall when my husband hung his towel up. Could have used an extra towel for my hair. The building has potential, but needs new fresh paint. How about some room darkening shades? The curtains didn't even fit the window. Country Curtains is just up the road - go there. The traffic noise in the third floor suite was loud and non stop. A little bit of Roundup on the front sidewalk might help the weeds growing through the bricks - the front sidewalk actually needed to be mowed. All the brochures at the back entrance were outdated by a couple of years - these were the ones with discount coupons for the local attractions. I'm quite sure that if you contact these venues, they would be more than pleased to offer you new updated information. My suggestion to the management is to start with one room and paint, clean, and detail. Get rid of the wallpaper - too hard to maintain. Semi gloss paint in the bathrooms, satin in the remainder of the facility. It has terrific potential, but until something is done, I would recommend that no one stays there.
