Twelve secluded acres surround this white-pillared Georgian-style mansion, restored to a delightful bed & breakfast. A comfortable elegance is enhanced by antiques and a tasteful decor. Soft music, warm fires and good books are found in the library, living room and TV game room. The formal dining room is the perfect setting for a candlelight breakfast that includes culinary delights such as lemon cottage cheese pancakes. Spacious guest bedrooms offer charm and style for every taste. Some feature a porch with sweeping views of the meadow, or a deck overlooking the reflecting pond.
The Red Lion Inn

The venerable white clapboard Red Lion Inn has operated as a tavern and inn since its inception. The originator, Silas Pepoon, is said to have hosted a rally to protest the use of British goods. This meeting led to the approval of a document said to have been the first Declaration of Independence. A vital part of the area's history, the inn is one of the last of the 18th-century Berkshire hotels still in operation. The collection of fine antique furnishings, colonial pewter and Staffordshire china found in the inn's parlor was gathered in the late 19th century by proprietor Mrs. Charles Plumb. The inn is part of the Norman Rockwell "Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas" painting. Traditional decor extends to the comfortable guest rooms and some have four-poster and canopy beds, fireplaces, antique vanities and desks. The inn is home to three restaurants. Rocking on the long front porch is a favored activity, and one wonders if former visitors such as presidents Cleveland, McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Coolidge and Franklin Roosevelt enjoyed the privilege. Contemporary regional cuisine is the specialty of the inn's restaurants.
