Romantic Interest
Perfect for couples seeking some quiet, romantic time together. All 4 rooms feature Queen- or King-size canopy beds, private baths -- 3 with whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, spa-quality robes and towels to use while visiting, dimmer controlled chandeliers, oriental carpets, antique furnishings and period decor. The large 2-acre lot and outdoor hot-tub offer many places for private reflection or conversation.
Historic Interest
The house was built by the town pharmacist in the 1870s as a white clapboard farmhouse setting at the front of his 300+ acre farm. His son-in-law, a local hero from WWI who became Appointments Secretary to Senator Harry Bryd, renovated the house in the 1930s, moving the house to facilitate the "mining" of a full basement, then moving it back to its current location and adding the brick veneer, wraparound porch, sunroom, garage and summer porch. Anita and Tom renovated the interior of the house from 1997 to 2000, adding elaborate moldings, window treatments, paint and color schemes, furnishings and decor to match what might have been seen in a fine town home of the 1890s.
