“Great Bed and Breakfast”
Monnie Laughinghouse8/20/2010
I had already been working in Mount Airy for 16 years, but I wanted to stay at a B and B so I could stay overnight and work in Cana and Galax, nearby towns. The rooms are fantastic and it is a wonderful environment close to downtown Mount Airy.
My wife was able to stay one night with me to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary, and we loved the professional touches along with the relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was wonderful; Robin and Junior have done a tasteful job on the interior and exterior and deserve a great deal of praise.

“Five Star Bed and Breakfast”
Gina Cameron5/2/2010
When we arrived, we were greeted by Robin and the pups and given a tour of the Inn. Once we got up to our room, Room #3 with a beautiful view of the garden we were very delighted by the room's decor and warmth that it offered. The bed was so very comfortable that we fell fast asleep within minutes of lying down and slept right through our dinner reservation at a nearby vineyard. In the morning the breakfast was served in the dining room and how wonderful it was and what a presentation. The atmosphere at the table, which was delightful thanks to Robin and her great since of humor, truly wonderful like a bunch of friends who had gathered for a meal. This was my first B&B and I truly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for giving us a peaceful, relaxing memory.

“Amazing Bed and Breakfast”
Penny Cloup4/17/2010
It may sound cliché, Sobotta Manor really felt like home away from home. They made our stay so comfortable that it was difficult to leave the comfort of our room. Their snacks were available 24/7, so even late at night; we could go into the kitchen and grab one of Robin’s oatmeal cookies. They have a DVD library with hundreds of DVDs that’s accessible 24 hours. Their location can’t be beat, walking distance to all things Mayberry. They provide so many extras like drinks that are free of charge and desserts like peanut butter delight. But the most valuable thing here is the Innkeepers and their assistants, Clayton and Cher; we will never forget them or this delightful bed and breakfast. And Junior we are cheering for you!

“Best Mayberry Bed and Breakfast”
Brenda G3/30/2010
I have never taken the time to write a review about a bed and breakfast before as usually my expectations are met but rarely exceeded. We had the pleasure to stay in the glorious Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast and our experience was out of this world. The first moment we walked through the door into this lovely bed and breakfast, we were greeted by Clayton the resident dog and Robin the Innkeeper, I knew this was going to be a special weekend. As we walked thru the Inn, I quite simply was blown away with the initial feeling of quality and warmth. We stayed in Room #3 which was beautiful and the quality followed us from the front door and continued in every aspect of our room, it is quite difficult to express in words the attention to detail and quaity we experienced. We can't wait to return. Thank you Robin and Clayton for making us feel so special. THE FOOD, THE GLORIOUS FOOD, I MUST SAY, THE BEST I EVER HAD!

“Amazing-Wonderful”
Charlie G9/13/2009
We stayed at the Bed and Breakfast for three nights. It is easy walking to downtown Mount Airy/Mayberry. I'm a type A and it's hard for me to relax if things aren't "right". Well, things are "right" at The Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast! I've stayed at many B&B’s; this would say this is one of our favorite stays! Breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL. All food was incredible and included fancy French toast, their home-made granola and sausage. Fresh baked goods, cookies and goodies are always available in the afternoon and into the evening; our favorite was the oatmeal cookies. There is a full library of movies - some very current/recently-released movies included. The garden is filled with tasteful and beautiful plantings and they share some freshly-cut flowers in your room. Robin and Junior attended to our every need, they loaned us pre-loaded navigation to area wineries, made amazing dinner suggestions and took care of the reservations. We could not review this Inn without a mention of the dogs, Clayton and Cher, they were well behaved and a joy to love on while we were away from our pups. This bed and breakfast is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway (15 minutes) and in the middle of the North Carolina and Yadkin Valley Wine Region. Worth every penny!

“Memorable End to a Wonderful Trip”
Michael SobouskiHarrisburg, PA

Aug 13, 2009 After witnessing a ceremony in Beaufort, SC, where our son became the Commanding Officer of Marine Corps Fighter Squadron VMFA-251, we were quite tired on our trip back to PA and decided, at the last minute, to find a B&B and sight see in Mt. Airy. What a delightful find! A beautiful "home" with a hostess (Robin) that truly made you feel at home. Her recommendations for dinner were excellent and tips for sight seeing in Mt. Airy made the end of our trip back to PA so memorable.

“Best NC Wine Country B&B”
Angela Love8/14/2009
We happened on this beautiful B&B on a recent visit to the North Carolina Wine Country. From the front door to the gardens, this house and host are to be treasured. Thurman and Robin, Clayton and Cher treated us like family. From the daytrip she planned to the Blue Ridge Parkway (complete with a stop at Nancy's Candy) we loved it! Breakfast was the best that we ever have had at any B&B. Don't hesitate to stay here, it is treasure! Also, walking distance to all things Andy Griffith.

“Wow - Andy Griffin meets Iron Chef”
Tim Murray6/3/2009
Sobotta Manor
I am not a B&B person but hosts like Robin and JR with homes like Sobotta Manor are making me a believer. The house is incredible, with fabulous woodwork and construction details. The furnishings are beautiful, with many period pieces and family heirlooms in use - yet I didn't feel intimidated using them (which says a lot about the hosts). Our room (#2) was well furnished, spacious, and very comfortable with a fabulous tile bath - don't be concerned about the Euro-style sit down tub/shower as it is quite easy to use and very nice. The common areas included a large sitting room, a gorgeous outdoor sitting room, an elegant dining area and a landscaped yard that was a miniature version of the Biltmore.
OK, enough about the house. Robin and JR truly know how to make you feel welcomed in their home. Can I put something in the freezer?...no problem; Can we have some people over for wine after dinner? ...let us help set that up. Can we have breakfast earlier?...absolutely. No request was too hard for them to handle. And the food...every meal had a family recipe passed down from Robin's Mom or Grandmother and there were 3 kinds of berries picked fresh daily from the yard as well as homemade sausage that she and JR made in the winter. I have had breakfast like this before but it was always at a 5 star hotel.
So, if you are looking for southern hospitality AND the best breakfast south of the Mason-Dixon line look no further.

“Best B&B in NC Wine Country!”
Guest Sobotta6/3/2009
Sobotta was the perfect place to spend our wedding anniversary! Robin and Junior were wonderful and thoughtful hosts who made us feel so at home. We had a great time visiting the wineries in the area, but make sure to leave a full day open because Robin and Junior will have plenty of great suggestions for fun things to do. There are tons of wineries within a one hour drive, and it is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I loved the house and breakfast was AMAZING. Our bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. We loved that we had all the privacy that we needed, but also the opportunity to meet other guests. We will definitely return in the future.

“Romantic Honeymoon”
Debbie AlanOcala, FL
11/3/2008
We stayed for our honeymoon. Our room was beautiful! The house was delightful with beautiful furnishings! We never wanted to leave! The food was wonderful! Yummy! Everything downtown is walking distance, so we never had to leave our parking at the house. We toured the wineries with JR as our host and were treated like royalty at each of our stops; he knew all the owners and we were made to feel very special. It was great not to have to drive or try to find these hidden gems. We loved the Innkeepers (all of them) Junior and Robin and of course Clayton and Cher and found them to be very kind and helpful and the last two even cuddly! We would recommend it to everyone we know and plan to stay again! Alan and Debbie - Ocala FL

Over the years, my wife & I have stayed at many B&B's, however when we arrived At Sobota Manor we were greeted by Robin & Junior along with Clayton & Cher two of the friendliest Mascots you could ask for. I enjoyed the great history of the Inn along with the large rooms & comfortable bed. My wife & I agreed, Sobotta is in our top 10 list of B&B's

“Best Bed and Breakfast Ever”
Lori Davis8/9/2008
We traveled to Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast while we were doing a ten day bike ride in various areas of North Carolina. What a find, it has been the trip highlight. I do not know where to begin. Robin and JR have made us feel like family since we walked in the door. The breakfast we have been served are 5 star to say the least. If we did not like the Inn so much we would move Robin to CA and open a resturant of our own. The rooms are spotless with every detail attended to! We did a limo tour in the Inns private limo with JR as our guide and we will never forget it! We vistied quaint little vineyard and got priorty treatment, because JR and Robin seem to know everyone (for newcomers). One or the other will most likely be Mayor by the time we return. Do not miss this bed and breakfast, you will not be sorry.
