Circa 1820. This 180-year-old restored sea captain's home is a three-minute walk to the ocean. Rooms are decorated in a nautical style with antiques. Several rooms feature authentic ship's knees, hand-painted trunks, old clipper ship models and four-poster beds. Some rooms boast ocean views, and the Master Suite has a working fireplace. The inn offers swimming and tennis facilities on the grounds. About three miles away, the innkeepers also offer three rooms, a bedroom efficiency apartment and two heated cottages on the Town Cove. Head into town, or spend the day basking in the beauty of Nauset Beach with its picturesque sand dunes.

Historic Interest

The Orleans Historical Society has identified the property as the former Freeman Snow House built as early as 1800. Snow is the first known owner of the property in 1858. Snow was the youngest son of Capt Edmund & Mary Snow (Sea Captain Edmund Snow is thought to be the first owner although no known records are available). Freeman was born in 1838 & worked at sea from 1845 to 1870. For 14 years he worked as a surfman at the Orleans U.S. Life Saving Station & in 1890 began taking in summer boarders as the summer tourist trade began taking hold.
