Risk Tournament
November - April, book the entire bed & breakfast for two days or more, then grab your generals, officers and privates, jeeps, tanks, trucks & planes & we'll give your invincible armies their marching orders.
Grab your secret decoder ring, here's your instructions. For a 2 night stay with a 1 day tournament, there will be two rounds of play, four games, two at a time. Each game will have 5 players and will last two hours. At the end of the first round, the official referee will tally up who has the most territories. The players will be rearranged according to score, lunch will be catered & the game will resume after that. At the end of the second round the player with the most territories will be the official ruler of the world and receive a COMPLETE SET OF SHERWOOD FOREST GEAR. (and the losers will each receive a Sherwood Forest coffee mug). Lunch will be catered during the recess. Monopoly Tournament
November through April, book the entire bed and breakfast for two days or more and let us organize the game of a lifetime. Take a CHANCE on putting Hotels on Boardwalk and Park Place while you mortgage your friends to the poor house. Here's the gameplan--there will be six games total, two at the same time. Each game will have 5 players and will last 90 minutes. At the end of 90 minutes, the game referee will tally up who has how much loot on the official scorecard. Then we'll do a player shuffle, take a break and resume the real estate turf wars. At the end of the third round, the scores will be tallied up and the WINNER, who will be the envy of all around, will receive a COMPLETE SET OF SHERWOOD FOREST GEAR. (the losers will each receive a Sherwood Forest coffee mug). Lunch will be catered during the recess. The next day after breakfast, you'll join Chef Jim LaPerriere & start your trip. You'll visit the Montello Meat Market where you'll experience a true "old-fashioned" butcher shop (Men in aprons, giant refrigerators with hanging heifers) Take a tour and before leaving, being the knowledgeable potent, powerful man that you are, you'll be able to pick out that red-blooded "slab" of beef for the dinner that night. Hands-on Group Cooking Classes
Chef Jim LaPerriere to offer some fun and instructive cooking classes. LaPerriere worked for 6 years as sous chef at Biba's before leaving to study at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and graduated number one in his class. He worked with chef Mark Miller at Red Sage in Washington, D.C., studying Southwestern Cuisine; he was sous chef at Mustards Grill in Napa Valley; and he was owner and executive chef at Enotria Cafe and Wine Bar in North Sacramento (earning and maintaining a four-star review). The interactive cooking class experience includes an evening of professional instruction designed around your groups' culinary interests, including ingredients, menu, recipes, beverages, and of course, a really good time. Our inn is surrounded by woods, quiet, sunsets
Decorated in the flair of the late 19th century, this expansive suite is complete with a bedroom area and an attached living room area, there is a double-sided slate-stone gas fireplace with a hardwood maple mantel which faces the bedroom area, there are hardwood maple mantel, along with a comfortable sitting area with couch and cozy wing chair. Oriental rugs and
eye-catching artwork add finishing touches. The bathroom off this suite sports a Spanish-tiled, two-person 125 Jacuzzi which faces the other side of the fireplace. There is also a wet bar complete with sink and refrigerator and separate shower area.
Log Cabin Suite--This spacious room emits sights and smells of the great pine forests, with round log walls, planked ceilings and sanded floors. The bedroom area and attached living room area are decorated with mission style furniture, oriental rugs and framed hand colored plat maps of Saugatuck & Douglas from 1913. There is a double-sided gas fieldstone fireplace which faces the bedroom area and the other side faces the 125 gallon Jacuzzi. There is also a wet bar with refrigerator and sink & a separate bath and shower.
Tree Tops Room--One of Sherwood Forest's most creative rooms. It boasts a professionally hand painted mural covering the entire room, transforming the space into a canopied loft raised high up in the tree tops surrounded by woods. This room is complemented by an oak-mantel gas fireplace and private bathroom with shower.
Black and White Room--This romantic room is decorated in a an Oriental flavor, with some golds, reds and blacks. It has a Queen-size bed with mission style headboard, antique armoire, antique armoire, Oriental rug, two-person settee. The private bathroom includes a large 2-person Jacuzzi.
The Rose Room is decorated in early Americana, beautiful patch work quilt, Oriental rug, probably the most comfortable sitting chair on the planet, original woodblock prints by the world renown artist Mary Brodbeck and a private bath with shower.
A separate cottage with gas fireplace is also available for intimate, group or family getaways. It has two bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, living room with TV/VCR and phone, air conditioning, full kitchen and deck with gas barbeque. Sleeps up to 5 people.
