Independence was where my mother was born and lived the early years of her life. To go back with her and my sister and experience the era of her childhood at the Serendipity B&B made it that much more special. We rode in the 1927 Buick and Susan, the B&B owner, drove us to my mothers old house. It was all so real we could almost imagine the way it was when mom was little. Be sure to ask for the tour of the house. We would love to return and do it all again.

Circa 1887. This three-story brick home offers guests the ultimate Victorian experience. Antique furnishings and period appointments create an authentic period ambiance. Victorian children's books and toys, antique pictures, china figurines and a collection of antique colored glassware add to the home's charm. Stereoscopes and music box tunes are other special touches. A full breakfast is served by candlelight in the formal dining room. Outside gardens include arbors, Victorian gazing balls, birdhouses, birdbaths, a hammock, swing and fountain. If time and weather permit, guests may request a ride in an antique car and tour of the house.
