Allegan, Michigan is the fourth coolest town in the U.S.A. We are developing the beautiful Kalamazoo River that winds through our city. A new launch for canoes and kayaks to launch into the river has been added. A new building is under construction along the river front to hold music and other concerts. During the past winter our Iron Bridge had lights added to the one side which has added a view of the bridge at night. Allegan has a Carnegie Library building is continuing to add events to interest many people in visiting the library. The Old Jail Museum is a fun visit for a Friday or Saturday afternoon. The sheriff was required to live in the same building with the jail in Michigan's early history. This building has been maintained and has many items of historical interestwith a tour guide that is very knowledgeable. The Allegan Fair Grounds hosts an Antique Fair every last Sunday of the month from April through October. In August, a large Fiber Festival is hosted at the Fair Grounds. Then with the coming of September, the largest fair in Michigan is held at the Fair Grounds for one week with outstanding music, food, animals and your favorite rides to enjoy.

Allegan has natural beauty with the Kalamazoo River running through the city and a dynamic economy with the world's largest manufacturer of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. Activities from antiquing to skiing, golfing and canoeing are all within the area for guests visiting our town. The Allegan Antique Market is the last Sunday of each month from April thru September. Within walking distance are shops, food and a River Walk along the Kalamazoo River. For longer stays, a short drive brings a visitor to Saugatuck, Holland, Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids where many activities are available.
