Circa 1906. The peach-colored awnings and the Colonial Revival architecture of Saltwood House welcome guests to a Victorian experience in a setting of hand-carved antique oak furniture, Tiffany-style lamps and a collection of Victorian silver plate serving pieces. A favorite room is the Saratoga with a bay window view overlooking the street, a carved gargoyle oak bedstead, chrysanthemum wallpaper and a Larkin desk. Located one-half block from the beach and in the middle of Cape May's oldest street with gas lamps, sycamore trees and horse-drawn carriages, there are restaurants, shops and the walking mall on Washington Street to enjoy. Egg casseroles, bacon and fresh fruit are often served at breakfast.
