Antiques dating from 1840-1860 include a Mississippi plantation bed with full canopy and a massive rosewood armoire crafted by the famous New Orleans cabinetmaker, Mallard. One room has a Spanish-moss mattress, traditional Louisiana bedding material used for more than 200 years. Six nearby plantations are open for tours.</description>

         <description>Still owned and occupied by the original family, this beautiful English-country-style 1796 plantation offers more than 50 acres with hundreds of graceful ancient live oaks and blooming gardens on the landscaped grounds. Accommodations are in a variety of cottages offering privacy and seclusion. Each cottage offers a unique experience such as the Treehouse, which features a king cypress four-poster bed, three-level deck and fireplace. The 1796 Old Kitchen cottage boasts skylights, the plantation's original well and a double Jacuzzi. Four of the eight cottages have two bedrooms. On the National Register, the home offers a daily tour narrated by one of the plantation's family members. The formal Victorian parlor in the house is filled with original antiques and high Victorian decor. Each accommodation has its own kitchen, but the innkeeper, a historian and author, (her books are available in the gift shop) also provides a continental breakfast.</description>
