Historic Interest
The founder of North Augusta, James Jackson, built Rosemary Hall as his home in 1902. However, his brother Walter Jackson built Lookaway Hall between 1895 and 1898 after he won the coin toss for the land with the best view. Afterwards, James Jackson was determined to build the better house and sorted through 30 truckloads of curly pine to select all of the wood panels and ceilings throughout the home as well as the grand English staircase.

About Our Rooms
A Gentlemans Quarters
Located on the second floor overlooking the verandah and lush gardens, this once was the room of James U. Jackson's oldest son, John Williams Jackson. Typically, the oldest male child received this room when he was old enough to care for himself as these quarters provide no servant's entrance. The room adorned with fine paintings and hunting dogs and is furnished with a four poster king bed residing atop an antique needle point rug, a Queen Anne high-back chair and a beautiful carved breakfront also reside here. The breakfront was given to Mr. Jackson upon completion of Rosemary Hall. The private bath has a shower/tub combination and a closet for your convenience.
Magnolia
Originally Daisy King Jackson’s room this cozy new-world room on the second floor welcomes the morning sunlight through the beautifully paned diamond French windows. One can peer past the immense columns and see the commanding Magnolia tree on the front lawn. This comfortable room is complete with a carved, four poster Queen bed, armoire, Queen Anne reading chair and a game table converts to a table for two. The private bath features a walk-in shower and lavish bath amenities.
Atelier Suite
Formally the art studio of Edith Alexander who taught hundreds for a period of 40-years, this sumptuous suite spotlights much of the original artwork. The suite is perfect for a romantic hideaway as it is tucked away in the back corner of the mansion and opens to the second floor verandah providing sweeping views of the lush rear grounds. This large private outside area provides a peaceful place to enjoy breakfast or relax at the end of the day.
Jackson Suite
The Jackson Suite is located on the second floor with full courtyard views. This spacious guestroom includes a king-size bed, fireplace, large seating area, and bathroom with a shower/tub.
Alexander Suite
The elegant corner suite looks out past the grand columns to the fountain of Calhoun Park and is richly decorated in hues of blue and brown. This room is complete with a four poster queen bed, adorned with lush silk bedding and draperies beaded with crystal, a hand carved writing desk, armoire and dresser. The large sumptuous bath features a period claw foot tub, double vanity and walk-in shower.
The Carolina Suite
This spacious suite was James U. Jackson Jr.'s bedroom. Located on the second floor and boasting a large bay window providing glorious views of both Carolina Avenue and the fountain of Calhoun Park, one can imagine while peering through the stately white columns the old electric trolley line heading up the Avenue. This grand suite is complete with a king sleigh bed, armoire, full swivel mirror and chaise lounge. The nice sitting area with coffee table is the perfect spot for breakfast or afternoon tea.

“Delightful Stay”
Jane T10/10/2011
Our stay at the Rosemary Hall was delightful. To be blessed with a perfect little preview of spring with the tulip tree in full bloom, and warm sunshine was an extra treat. The house is beautiful and it shows all the love and care you have lavished upon it. Everywhere I looked another special detail would present itself. Breakfast was delicious and elegant and just plain fun. Thank you for spending time with us and sharing the pictures and history and stories of this lovely place you call home. Talking with the two of you and getting to know you a bit was the very best part of a perfect visit. Thank you for a wonderful visit- like staying with the perfect friend!

“Feeling Pampered”
Steve R2/7/2012
Thank you for all the time, talent, dedication, and love you have invested in Rosemary Inn. It is so obvious that your passion lies in making others feel loved and pampered! We have certainly felt it! You have put so many details into your methods and means of hospitality.. and we have been blessed! What thrills me the most is the way you are " loving your neighbors as yourself". That's God's pattern, and you are doing it well! I will dream of coming back here.. and will mention it often to friends and family.

“Thanks”
Liz M2/7/2012
Just wanted to say thank you again for your warm southern hospitality last weekend. We really enjoyed staying at the inn and it was so gracious of you to allow Winston in your beautiful home. The breakfasts were absoluetly delicious and were served in such an elegant manner that made us feel so special. And, Diana, thank you for being so caring and offering those warm hugs when you saw how torn I was about making the move away from our children. We definitely plan to see you soon, and we'll be in touch when we know more about our final travel plans.

“Gracious”
Baudry M2/7/2012
Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality last week. I enjoyed the visit so much. You taught me more then I ever knew about the Jackson's. The N.A. History book is wonderful and I'd like to share it with my brother before I return it. Thank you again, and I look forward to another visit.

“Great Time!”
Tommy C9/29/2010
We had a great time this weekend in Augusta. You have a wonderful place and the two of you offered the type of southern hospitality that we hoped for in visiting Augusta, GA. I am sure your B&B will be a success. I had a great race and I really do attribute my performance to staying with you at the Rosemary Inn. It was so convenient having the cliff bars, gatorade, nuts, coffee, bagels, etc. Everything I needed prerace was provided. One less thing to stress out about. I ate and slept well. And again, thank you so much for the late check out. I can't express how grateful Nicole and I are for that. Again, we didn't have to worry about packing everything up and checking out before the big race. It was an absolute best case scenario weekend. I have put a lot of hard work into training for the event and everything went better then expected.

What a wonderful stay we had at Rosemary Hall. Your home is beautiful and you are the epitome of Southern Hospitality. You made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived and found freshly baked cookies in my room until the moment I left. I look forward to visiting you and Rosemary Hall again and again.

“Rosemary Inn a special place”
Eduardo FernandezDoral, FL
Rosemary Inn is a special place. The way we found this beautiful place was something also special. When we arrived to stay for one night we felt that this place was for staying for more time. The rooms are very beautiful, elegant and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and consisted of home made waffles, which were the best we've ever had. The owners Kelly and Diana are special pleople too and when we heard all the history of this place we felt more than interested in going again and getting to know more of this place and this beautiful city. Kelly and Diana we hope this december, in our next trip to the mountains we are going to stay with you for 2 nights. Thanks for the special attentions you gave us. “Surprisingly Comfortable”
Virginia7/14/2008
Loved the idea but I was anticipating it to be a tad uncomfortable--just because most things from that era are rigid, stuffy and small. But my room (The Georgian) was roomy, my bath was as well. The bed was very comfortable. I would have liked to stay another night. Keep in mind that it is the personal home of the owners and not an impersonal 5-star hotel. In the South, treating such folks like hired hands can be offensive. I enjoyed visiting with the owners and their one cook/housekeeper, as well as, the other guests. However, for the amount of work to manage, upkeep, and service guests, I could see where the 3-personed staff could easily be overwhelmed. The homes are for sale. How I would love to see someone with local history (like someone in my family) buy and sustain it. It was a great weekend for me!
