Description

Circa 1742. Considered on the island to be a typical Nantucket house in the Old Historic District, it is Quaker in design and was originally the home of a whale oil trader. Later converted into a boardinghouse, it became one of the area's earliest inns. Resident innkeeprs Sheila and Fred have made many pleasant changes to ensure a relaxing stay. Family heirlooms, antiques and reproduction pieces create a warm and inviting ambiance of casual elegance. Make new friends in the spacious common room over a cup of tea. A thoughtful guest pantry has a refrigerator with ice maker and a microwave. Guest bedrooms, named after holidays, are accented with English pine, wicker, canopy beds, chintz, gingham, florals and a touch of whimsy. Indulge in a leisurely breakfast buffet by candlelight or on the brick garden patio.

The Dennis Family

Each time we go to this lovely Inn we feel as if we are at "home." Sheila and Fred are family. Interested, pleasant and attentive. Dick Dennis, the father.

Good Fortune

Hello: A friend and I had the great good fortune to spend several days at the Centre Street Inn on Nantucket while on a trip in September. I wanted to let you and your readers know what a fabulous experience we had and how much we would recommend this inn to others. The owners, Sheila and Fred made our visit so exceptional that we both agreed the time we spent there was the highlight of our trip. Thanks so much for letting me share this fabulous experience with you. Heather Harrigan Calgary, Canada
