Ginger Cookies

Ginger is one of those smells that brings back the memories of a being a small child again. I grew up in a small town in Ohio during the 40's and the taste ginger cookies really brings back great memories.

3/4 c shorting
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c molasses

2 1/4 c flour
2 tea soda
1/8 tea salt
1/2 tea ground cloves
1 tea cinnamon
1 tea ginger


Heat over to 375 degree

Mix the shorting, brown sugar, egg, and molasses.

Shift together the dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients.

Roll into balls the size of a walnut, roll in sugar.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.
