Circa 1815. Carefully preserved yet fully renovated, this white-washed Federal brick house was originally built as a granary. Relax in tranquil elegance on the two-story wraparound porch that fronts the historic Delaware Canal in scenic Bucks County, or sit and admire the perennial gardens. Watch the mule barges float by from a comfy overstuffed chair in the library. Appealing guest bedrooms blend French, American and English antiques. The attic suite, on the entire third floor, boasts a clawfoot tub, and dormer sitting area with a view. Cottages are also available. Savor a complete country breakfast in the dining room that may include fresh fruit with Grand Marnier sauce, blueberry pancakes, French toast and a variety of meats. Private off-street parking is provided, and it is an easy walk to the local attractions.

Innkeeper Note

Porches on the Towpath is nestled in the heart of New Hope, Pennsylvania, in historic Bucks County. The house is a white-washed Federal brick structure that was built in 1830 as a granary. For sixty years it was the home of the Reading family. In the 1930s "Pop" Reading's sandwich shop was a local gathering place. That sense of community still exists in New Hope today, and Porches reflects the warmth and spirit of small town charm and hospitality. Porches Bed and Breakfast is within easy walking distance of all the attractions and delights of New Hope and Lambertville. New Hope and the surrounding areas of Bucks County have long been considered a mecca for the arts, antiques and shopping. New Hope and its sister city Lambertville offer an enchanting mixture of galleries, antique shops, fine restaurants and specialty shops. Take in a show at a local theater, or listen to live music at a local club. Indulge in a horse-drawn carriage ride, go on a ghost tour, ride the historic Mule Barge, or take a trip on the steam locomotive.
