Built for a prominent whaling ship captain, this classic colonial has been restored and refurnished to inspire the gracious and elegant standard of a time in history that most of us only read about in books. Reproduction and authentic 19th-century antiques, artwork and Oriental rugs are featured throughout the inn. Luxurious goose down comforters and Ralph Lauren linens top beautiful handmade, four-poster canopy beds in most of the 12 guest rooms. The innkeepers, seasoned restauranteurs, offer guests a delightful combination of steaming cappuccinos, freshly squeezed orange juice, hot or cold cereals, a fresh fruit plate and a selection of pastries served restaurant-style in the formal dining room or on the bricked garden patio.
