Circa 1873. Make your inn visit an adventure by taking a short ferry ride to this island mansion off the coast of Rockland. The handsome Second Empire French Victorian is at the edge of town. Enjoy a game room, reading nooks and a parlor. The Coral Room boasts a view of Indian Creek, while shadows of Carver’s Pond may be seen through the windows of Mama’s Room. A favorite selection is the Moses Webster Room that features a marble mantel, tin ceiling and a bay window looking out at the town. Breakfast usually offers fresh fruit platters and egg dishes with either French toast or pancakes. Restaurants and Lane Island Nature Conservancy are close. Take scenic walks past private fishing boats, ponds and shoreline, all part of the hideaway quality noted by National Geographic in “America’s Best Kept Secrets.”
