Truly outstanding!

Five Stars!! My wife and I are experienced travelers, having had many nice stays at other B&Bs to serve as comparisons with our recent two-night stay at the Newport House. The Newport House stands alone as, yes, a very nice B&B, with inherent historical interest afforded by the house itself and with hosts, John and Cathy Millar, who are so very warm and attentive. But it has one special extra that sets the Newport House above all others in our experience: the tremendously informative and even intriguing conversations with owner/host John Millar at the nice leisurely breakfast. John is an author and an engaging raconteur highly qualified in architecture, historical sailing-ship building, history, and many other subjects. He built, among others, full-scale replicas of the Colonial-era sailing ships the Rose and the Providence, which appear respectively in the motion pictures “Master And Commander” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. We could have listened to John all day, and learned, from his own research and experience, much that would be hard to find elsewhere concerning Colonial American history and more. Cathy engages delightfully on many subjects including gardening and wildlife. You could not find better hosts and new friends than John and Cathy.
