Historic Interest

Classic example of Italianate-style Victorian architecture. Room under street built as Underground Railroad safe house. Construction of the three story brick home of John G. Fisher was started in 1860 and completed in 1862. Fisher was a German immigrant and was in Pittsburgh as early as 1854. Fisher manufactured bricks. Under the front sidewalk and extending under part of the Sarah Street Fisher built an eight by twenty four foot brick walled room connected to the house basement by a low 15 foot long tunnel. We believe it's only useful value would have been for access to an underground railroad safe house.

September wedding at the Inn

Morning Glory Inn

We had our wedding at the morning glory inn in September of 2012. I can not write enough positive reviews or find the words to describe how perfect our event was. It was a true reflection of our personalities, a gorgeous venue and a friendly/gracious staff. The wedding and reception were laid back and gave our guests a chance to really enjoy themselves instead of following the motions of a 'typical' wedding and reception. I hope to be able to stay at the Inn many times in our future, we reminisce on our wedding day and truely would not change one thing. It was perfect and I can only hope that someone we know will choose this a venue so that we can attend a wedding there!

Hello Dave, Shawn and I want to thank you very much for the use of your Inn for our wedding this past Friday. Everything was just beautiful and perfect, the guests couldn't stop telling us what a lovely venue it was. Looking back on everything, I think we picked the absolute perfect venue for us...we knew it when we visited in January to actually see the place[after we booked the reservation] but just how perfect it was only became clear on Friday! Shawn and I were able to take a walk in the candlelit courtyard after all the guests left or gone to bed, and that was just pure loveliness... Saturday morning the breakfast was *SO* good! Honestly, those were the best waffles we had ever tasted, and I was craving for them the rest of the day. So, thank you again for "everything"...it was well worth what we paid, and we will recommend you wholeheartedly to anyone looking foe a venue in Pittsburgh. You helped make our wedding day one of the best memories that we will cherish for years!

The tardiness of this not is no indication of the lack of gratitude...

Dear Dave, The tardiness of this note is no indication of the lack of gratitude we have for our lovely escape from reality earlier this month. It was such a delight to be back where we had our wedding reception 5 years ago and it was such a surprise to enjoy our night's stay in this house. The Morning Glory will always hold a dear place in our memory book and we plan to be back in future years for anniversaries.

Thank you so much for helping us host our special day at your Inn. We couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. We will foreer have very sacred memories of our wedding day & your beautiful Inn. thank you for all your help & the generous "anniversary" gift. We look forward to seeing you again soon! PS We've received so many complements on our wedding pictures - especially the scenery. Needless to say, your Inn has gotten a lot of great word-of-mouth advertising.

We cannot thank you enough for how wonderful our wedding was at your Inn. Our day was perfect from start to finish and we could not have picked a more beautiful place to start our married life.
