Circa 1878. In the heart of Mendocino on Main Street, the Mendocino Hotel originally was established as a temperance hotel for lumbermen. An Old West facade was added. The historic Heeser House, home of Mendocino's first settler, was annexed by the hotel along with its acre of gardens. Many of the guest rooms and suites boast tall, four-poster and canopy beds or fireplaces and coastal views. The hotel has several dining rooms and is a member of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America.
