Circa 1902. This 1902 Victorian built by lumber magnate L.T. McKinnon, a local naval stores/lumber baron, was once featured in the movie Conrack. Just 10 miles from Fort Frederica, 12 miles from Fort King George, and 10 miles from Christ Church and St. Simon's Light House, the inn is formally landscaped with a Victorian garden on the side. It has 17 Corinthian columns made of Georgia cypress on the exterior and Georgia marble front steps that lead to double front doors with stained glass. Its nine working fireplaces have intricately carved mantelpieces. The home is filled with family heirlooms and antiques from Charleston and New Orleans. Fresh flowers and candles add to the ambiance. Sleep in one of three guest rooms and arise to a breakfast including treats like fresh fruit, gourmet coffee, a hot entrée, side meats and homemade rolls, muffins or biscuits.
